In the hottest month of the warm summer, on July 12 and 13, 2014, thanks to the MEOE Szombathely Independent Organization, a 2-day CACIB International dog show will be held in Szombathely. Dogs from the ten breed groups will compete over two days in the rings of the Aréna Savaria Sports and Event Center.

Organizing a 2-day CACIB dog show has already become a tradition in the life of the MEOE Szombathely Independent Organization, since it has been held every year for quite some time. The MEOE Szombathely Organization held its first dog show in 1968, which was followed by many more exhibitions over the years. Their Dog Training School also started operating in the same year. At that time, the Association worked with an enthusiastic core team applying the principle of “Together – For each other.”

The Association operated for a long time as a MEOE member Organization, then a few years ago, in 2000, it became an independent entity, like many other MEOE member Associations.

In the well-functioning dog school of the MEOE Szombathely Independent Association, dogs and their owners learn together in various courses, such as obedience and protection courses, as well as training for work exams; furthermore, they also welcome dogs and their owners aged between 3 and 8 months to the dog kindergarten.

Honoring dog training and dog sports, a new dog sports center started operating in the city last September. In addition to the already traditional trainings at the sports center, team sports such as flyball and agility have also been introduced, which are built on agility as well as a harmonious relationship between the dog and its owner.

The leadership of the Association was renewed in 2012 and their future goals include promoting the unity of the dog community. As can be read in the words of the Association’s President – “Let’s set an example with collective thinking, compassion, selfless, interest-free love for animals.” In the spirit of these thoughts, all dog-loving owners and exhibitors are welcomed to the 2-day dog show with their dogs for a wonderful shared dog experience.

The venue of the 2-day CACIB international dog show is Szombathely, known by its Latin name Savaria, which is the oldest founded city in Hungary and is also called the Queen of the West. Its population is more than 80,000 people.

Walking through the streets of Szombathely, we can experience the fusion of the Roman era and modern life, stepping from a world radiating millennia-old atmosphere into the present.
The city, rich in historical and cultural traditions, is characterized by dynamically developing tourism and numerous festivals held in the city, such as the Savaria Dance Competition, International Bartók Festival, Savaria Carnival, as well as many international fairs.

In addition to Szombathely’s rich sights and colorful program opportunities, the area's natural features and landmarks are also excellent destinations for hikers.
The city's parks, the Historical Theme Park, the Boating Lake, the Lake Bath, the Vasi Open-Air Museum, and the Kámoni Arboretum are all popular excursion spots.

Among its natural sights, we must mention the Kámoni Arboretum located on the banks of the Gyöngyös stream, which is the largest botanical garden in the country, spanning 27 hectares, featuring tree and shrub species of temperate and cold climates.

In the Kámoni Arboretum, alongside more than 1000 conifer species, 2000 deciduous tree species also live. The pride of the garden every year are the wonderful Rhododendron bushes, showcasing 50 varieties, which make the garden complete during their May flowering.

The Vasi Open-Air Museum presents the peasant lifestyle of old times as well as folk architectural culture. The Open-Air Museum opened its doors in 1973, and 43 buildings from 27 settlements have been successfully rebuilt on its grounds. The introduction of native Hungarian domestic animals and regular tradition-preserving programs complete the life of the Museum Village.

A short video about the city of Szombathely can be seen:

The international dog show this year welcomes dog owners and guests at a new location. The air-conditioned halls of the Aréna Savaria Sports and Event Center provide an ideal opportunity for hosting the 2-day long exhibition. On its approximately 6-hectare sports hall area, there are two large halls designed for events and presentations. In addition, Aréna Savaria has 1500 m² of asphalt and grassy areas, which serve as ideal venues for outdoor events.
Numerous exhibitions, fairs, conferences, congresses, festivals, concerts, theatrical performances, balls, sports events, and cultural programs are held annually in the halls and outdoor areas of Aréna Savaria, attracting many visitors.
For the first time this year, the Aréna Savaria Sports and Event Center welcomes exhibitors and their dogs into its air-conditioned and carpeted halls on both days of the event.

Below we would like to inform guests and families planning to attend the exhibition about the parking and entrance fee amounts:
The amount of the parking and entrance fees is always determined by the Dog Breeders Association organizing the particular dog show, so we cannot precisely predict the exact numerical value in advance, only an estimated amount.
The parking fee may range between 1000 HUF and even 4000 HUF (depending on which city the exhibition is held in).
The entrance fee varies, ranging from 500 HUF up to 2000 HUF per person, but in most cases children and pensioners either do not pay at all or enjoy a significant discount.

All interested parties, guests, and exhibitors with their dogs are warmly welcomed by the MEOE Szombathely Independent Association to Szombathely, to the Aréna Savaria Sports and Event Hall for a wonderful 2-day CACIB international dog show in the hottest month of the warm summer!
