Introducing the city of the dog show, Herend

The city of the dog show is Herend, located 14 km from Veszprém, at the meeting point of the Northern and Southern Bakony, on the bank of the Séd creek, in a basin surrounded by hills.

According to the first records, the area was inhabited in the form of smaller settlements from the early 1300s, but its population growth dates back to the 1700s, as confirmed by historical relics found here. At that time, the inhabitants lived from agriculture, viticulture, and logging.
In the 1820s, the ceramic factory was established in Herend under the organization of Vince Stingl, whose boom is dated to the 20th century. From the mid-1900s, in the post-war period, production significantly increased in the porcelain factory, so the settlement started to develop significantly due to its world-famous hand-painted porcelains, and by the end of this century, Herend porcelain became known almost worldwide.

The settlement, also known as the "porcelain city," has now grown into the largest porcelain manufactory in Europe. The fabulous hand-painted Herend porcelain is a Hungarikum, part of Hungarian heritage. The Herend Porcelain Art Museum hosts more than 100,000 visitors annually.

In the Porcelainium belonging to the collection, visitors can look behind the scenes and thus get to know the workshop secrets of porcelain making. The fabulous porcelains were originally commissioned to noble castles, fortresses, and manor houses. Within the framework of an annual traveling exhibition, enthusiasts can enjoy the beauty of porcelain in its original environment in renovated domestic noble castles.

In the surroundings of the city, you can relax and hike: by climbing Hajag, you can get to know the local animal and plant life, breathe in the fresh air, and explore traces of recent past events.

Come and visit! The organizers warmly welcome you!

The double CAC dog show in Herend will be held in the wooded-park promenade area, where all interested parties, guests, and exhibitors with their dogs are warmly welcomed by the Dog Breeders Association of Veszprém County with two high-standard dog shows!
