The Békéscsaba Youth and Sport Dog Association has been given the opportunity by the MEOE Federation to organize 2 x CAC dog shows this year. The 2 x CAC dog shows will be held on March 30 and 31, 2019 in Békéscsaba, at the Póstelek Leisure Park!

The organizing Association of the exhibition, the Békéscsaba Youth and Sport Dog Association

The Association operates as a local organization of MEOESZ. Their dog school offers numerous family programs for all owners and dogs, helping dog owners with behavioral and socialization as well as obedience training; in addition, there is a dog nursery. Their sports departments cover agility and working dog sports, with flyball and frisbee sports on the rise. Both their junior and adult competitors perform excellently in both fields, representing Hungary successfully at World and European Championships! Dog sports are accessible to all age groups!

The Association also organized CAC dog shows already in the early 1990s. The venue for the 1993 national show was also the park of Póstelek Castle, which can be seen from this old catalog cover.

From the early 2000s, the venue of the show was moved to the City Sports Hall area. The year 2011 was a turning point when the show was again held at the Póstelek Castle Park. In recent years, the venue has alternated between the Póstelek Castle Park and Csaba Park.

Introducing the city of the dog exhibition, Békéscsaba

The city of the CAC dog show is Békéscsaba, the seat of Békés county and the 12th most populous city in our country, an important road and railway junction.

Archaeologists believe that Békéscsaba was established in the first half of the 13th century. The settlement is first mentioned in the papal tithe register of 1332-1337. During the Turkish era, the city resisted for a long time, suffering damage first during the Fifteen Years' War and later in the 17th century. However, during the liberation wars against the Turks, it became completely depopulated. According to the latest research, its population did not perish completely but fled. In 1703, the Serbs burned the village down, making it uninhabited again. In 1840, Békéscsaba was granted market town status. By 1858 the railway line reached the city, and development accelerated with new houses and factories being built. The great economic crisis between the two world wars brought poverty and unemployment, and in 1925 a huge flood also devastated the city. From the 1960s, planned industrialization began, poultry processing and the printing industry also took off. The city has now passed its lows and is currently still developing.

Thanks to its parks, flower-adorned squares, and charming promenades, Békéscsaba ranks among the most livable cities in the country. Each year, more and more tourists visit the city due to its centuries-old buildings, events, and the natural values of the surrounding area.

One of the most atmospheric parts of the city is the Élővíz canal, which starts from the Fehér-Körös river and flows into the Kettős-Körös. On its bank lies Széchenyi Park, where the eco-tourism visitor center awaits nature lovers in the “Music Pavilion” building erected in 1850.

Among Békéscsaba’s most beautiful historic buildings are the 19th-century Fiume Hotel, the Jókai Theater, and the City Hall. The city’s symbols are the Evangelical Great Church and the monument-listed Evangelical Small Church built in 1745.

High-quality gastronomic and cultural events await visitors in Békéscsaba throughout the year. The Csabai Sausage Festival held every October has grown into one of the country's most prestigious gastronomic events. The series of programs is enriched every year with cultural and entertainment events as well as pig slaughtering, but the real attraction remains the sausage making, which draws a whole host of domestic celebrities every time. Among the city’s largest open-air events are also the Csabai Beer Festival and Knuckle Parade, as well as the Békéscsaba Lecso Festival.

Come and visit, the organizers warmly welcome you!

The venue of the dog shows is the Póstelek Leisure Park, where the Békéscsaba Youth and Sport Dog Association warmly welcomes all interested parties, guests, exhibitors, and their dogs at the end of March with two high-standard CAC dog shows!
