Organized by the Hírös Hungarian Dog Breeders' Independent Association, we can participate in 2 x CAC national dog shows in the village of Jakabszállás, located 17 kilometers from Kecskemét. Exact location: the Sports Airport located on the grounds of the Aero Hotel.
The organizing Association of the exhibition, the Hírös Hungarian Dog Breeders' Independent Association
Reviewing from the early 2000s, organizing dog shows has become a tradition in the life of the Kecskemét Dog Breeders' Association. The Association held a double CACIB show for many years. After a few years' break, this show has been held as a CAC show, including in 2008, 2010, 2013, and 2015. In 2014, 2016, and 2018, the traditionally early September show returned in the form of 2 x 1 day international dog shows, while in 2017 the Association earned the right to organize a double CAC show from the MEOE Federation.
This year, 2 dog shows will be held in one day, one CAC in the morning and one CAC in the afternoon!

Introducing the venue of the dog show, Jakabszállás
The venue of the CAC dog show is the village of Jakabszállás, located 17 km southwest of Kecskemét.
The settlement has been inhabited since the Árpád era, but it was depopulated during the Turkish occupation and its area became a plain. For most of the 18th and 19th centuries, half of the plain belonged to Szabadszállás, while a quarter each was owned by Kiskunmajsa and Fülöpszállás. The current village comprises the former Szabadszállás part.
The main occupation until 1895 was shepherding. When the plain was divided, the 20-60 hold plots gradually shifted to agriculture, which accelerated population growth, and the landless peasants from the landowning villages acquired land here.
Jakabszállás became an independent village named Szabadjakabszállás in 1922, and received its current name in 1926.
After becoming independent, the village hall and a chapel were built, the latter cared for by Franciscan monks. The Roman Catholic church was completed in 1944 and can be seen at the junction of Route 54 and the road leading to Kiskunhalas. The Reformed church was built much later, in the early 1960s. In the memorial park in the cemetery, the names of residents who died heroically in the First and Second World Wars and in 1956 are commemorated on a memorial wall. In the center of the village, the enamel outdoor sculpture by Endre Túri, a sculptor, can be seen.
The Kecskemét economic narrow-gauge railway was built in 1928, and the roads crossing the settlement were constructed between 1939-42, significantly reducing its isolation. In recent times, aviation also conquered Jakabszállás. Its grass airfield began operating in 1994, and in 2000 a paved runway was built. In 2009, a riding track opened next to the airport, where invitational carriage competitions are held every Whit Sunday. Additionally, a harvest festival takes place on the first Saturday of September every year.
Jakabszállás is home to the 1:1000 scale model of Hungary's topography and hydrography. The Little Hungary Botanical Garden is a 93,000 square meter collection garden with 3,200 plants, an integrated adventure park, a meeting place for creative artists, and a wonderful eco-recreational spot for visitors.
In the garden, one plant symbolizes each of Hungary's 3,200 settlements, making it the most diverse collection garden in the country. Its creation used 1,200 cubic meters of stone and gravel, 22,000 square meters of geotextile, 8,000 square meters of pond liner, several tons of grass seed, 140,000 seedling trees, and also created 12 kilometers of new hiking trails, a 35 km irrigation system, 79,000 square meters of lawn, and eight wells, as well as accommodating 10,000 aquatic plants in the botanical garden.
Nearby, a sledding hill was built with the same 1:1000 scale; it is 125 meters long, 17 meters wide, and 8.8 meters high, modeling the Himalayas. Inside the hill is a warming hut with a capacity of 70 people.
When visiting Jakabszállás, the city of Kecskemét is also worth seeing. The "hírös city" combines historical traditions with modern aspirations. Its beautiful public buildings tell of ancient times, and its museums and galleries hold significant cultural value.
One of the most beautiful town centers in the country can be seen in Kecskemét, where a series of famous buildings greet visitors. First is the building of the Town Hall, decorated with majolica ornaments in the Art Nouveau style, whose bells on the facade play Kodály’s Viennese carillon and whose ceremonial hall is adorned with murals by Bertalan Székely. The Colorful Palace, embellished with colorful floral decorations and evoking the world of Hungarian folk tales, its ceremonial hall combines popular Art Nouveau motifs into a spectacular unity. Today, the building houses the city's art gallery, containing an important collection of 19th and 20th-century Hungarian painting.
The defining building of the Main Square is the Great Church, which is the largest Baroque-style cathedral built in the Great Plain region. Opposite the City Hall stands Kecskemét’s oldest architectural monument, the Franciscan Church. The monastery connected to the Church was built by the Franciscans and today houses the Kodály Zoltán Institute of Music Pedagogy, on the ground floor of which a permanent exhibition showcases the life journey of the famous composer. The name Zoltán Kodály is inseparably linked with the city. At the Kodály Zoltán Music School, students are taught according to the characteristics of the world-famous Kodály method.
Among Kecskemét’s famous natives, besides Zoltán Kodály, we must mention our playwright József Katona, whose name is preserved by the József Katona Theatre, and the poet Sándor Petőfi, who lived and worked in this city between 1828 and 1830.
Among the city’s other Art Nouveau historical buildings is the Old Church, also known as the Great Church, which was for a long time the model for churches in the Great Plain. The Lutheran Church, designed by Miklós Ybl, was built in a romantic style. An integral part of the cityscape is the Reformed Church, which shows multiple stylistic features, as well as the Moorish-style former synagogue with its onion dome tower.
Among its sights we must highlight the Kecskemét Wildlife Park, which is territorially the smallest zoo in the country. It was established in 1971, primarily to display native wild animals and indigenous Hungarian domestic animals. The previous species composition has significantly expanded, and now with wonderful individuals of 110 species and 400 specimens, all continents of the world are represented. The goal of the Kecskemét Wildlife Park is to preserve and increase the already existing natural values.
Among the city’s natural sights, the magnificent Kecskemét Arboretum, rich in natural beauty, stands out. On its 62-hectare area, the collection garden contains more than 900 different plant species and their varieties. With its significant plant stock, the Arboretum is a prominent element of Kecskemét’s green spaces. In the young plant collection, we can now rest in the shade of tulip trees, magnolias, giant sequoias, oaks, and rubber trees, among others. The youngest part of the arboretum is the oak collection, which on 16 hectares showcases Hungarian and some foreign drought-resistant oak types. In addition to nature trails, the arboretum welcomes visitors with a species playground, lookout tower, rain shelters, and pergola.
