Organized by the Zala County Cynological Association, on May 11 and 12, 2019, we can participate in 2 x CAC national dog shows. The venue for the CAC shows is in Zalaegerszeg, at the Camping area located in the Gébárti Leisure Center, abundant in natural beauty.

The organizing Association, the Zala County Cynological Association

The Association was founded in 1994 from the community of dog breeders and dog owners living in and around Zalaegerszeg, as the Nagylengyel branch of the Hungarian National Association of Dog Breeders.

The goals of the Association:
– Strengthening the relationship between humans and nature, actively supporting the protection of the environment and nature, with special regard to the provisions of the animal protection law, and spreading the rules of civilized dog keeping widely.
– Conducting events organized by breeder organizations and the cynological umbrella organization, organizing cynological courses and lectures, publishing books and magazines on cynology, promoting, organizing, coordinating, and supporting sports and leisure activities related to cynology.
– Cynological education and training, skill development, popularization, cynological cultural activities, cynological expert activities.
– Nature protection, animal protection, environmental protection, animal health activities, support of animal protection organizations.

The Association works closely with the county police, professional authorities, and other animal protection associations for the protection of animals.

Due to legislative changes in 2012, another change occurred in the life of the Association in 2013, when it became an independent association. Thus, in January 2013, the Zala County Cynological Association was founded from the members of the Nagylengyel Organization of the Hungarian National Association of Dog Breeders (MEOE). In the year of its foundation, they already applied to organize a CAC show, which they received from the parent association. The event was a success, after which they organized several more shows, competitions, breed surveys, and tracking trials.

The Zala County Cynological Association can also consider itself fortunate in organizing dog shows, as from the mid-2000s it has been able to hold a CAC National show almost every year. The Association won the right to organize the shows each time by applying to the Federation of Hungarian National Association of Dog Breeders. The Association, which has a 22-year history, was able to hold the CAC dog show in Zalaegerszeg in 2006 and 2008, in Nagylengyel in 2009, in the Zalaegerszeg City Sports Hall in 2012, and again in Zalaegerszeg in 2013, but already on the premises of the Gébárti Leisure Center. The dog shows held in recent years have been so successful that the Zala County Cynological Association will organize a double CAC dog show in 2019! Two national dog shows in one weekend! We wish good work and much success in organizing and managing the event!

Introducing the dog show city, Zalaegerszeg

A thousand valleys. A thousand bends, a thousand hills, a thousand forest islets./ A thousand homes, white wine cellars, old wine cellars with iron-plated doors, fairy-like / valley bends… the blackbird’s song sprinkles the landscape. The landscape which / is incomparable. The landscape which is unique.”

The location of the CAC National dog show is one of Hungary’s greenest and most flower-filled cities, Zalaegerszeg, which lies on both banks of the Zala River, embraced by the picturesque Zalai Hills.

The city, with more than 60,000 residents, is popular as a destination for excursions thanks to its favorable natural conditions and attractions. Due to its rich cultural values and diverse events, the city attracts many visitors annually.

Zalaegerszeg is considered one of Hungary's most flower-filled and greenest cities; for this reason, it received the Golden Rose award from the Organizing Committee for the Flowering Hungary in 2008, and in 2009, 2010, and 2011 the city was a special prize winner in the "Flowering Hungary" competition.

Among its natural attractions, the Csácsi Arboretum located in the eastern part of the city must be mentioned (the exhibition venue, the Gébárti Leisure Center, along with the Gébárti Lake, is situated here), whose 60-hectare protected area contains all native tree species found in Hungary. The protected area is surrounded by a 750-hectare forest, and a small lake and walking paths make it attractive to nature lovers.

In the Alsóerdő, the mountainous atmosphere arboretum contains the Azalea Valley, named after the azaleas found there. From mid-May, azaleas and rhododendrons bloom, thanks to which the Azalea Valley amazes visitors and tourists with its wonderful sight and scent. The Azalea Valley is freely accessible at all times.

Location: Gébárti Leisure Center

The dog breeders have chosen the landscaped green area of the Gébárti Leisure Center as the venue for the exhibition, which is located directly on the shore of Gébárti Lake. The impressive 31-hectare Gébárti Lake is the largest artificial lake in the area. The lake area is crisscrossed with walking paths; on its peninsula, there is an outdoor beach. Its landscaped surroundings offer pleasant relaxation for bathers, water sports enthusiasts, and anglers as well.
