The East-Hungarian Dog Breeders' Association (former Debrecen Organization of MEOE) announced a 2 x CACIB show for all breeds in the hottest month of summer, on July 19 and 20, 2014. On both days, we can participate in one CACIB international dog show.

The Eastern Hungary Dog Breeders Association (formerly the Debrecen Organization of MEOE) announces a 2 x CACIB show for each breed in the hottest month of summer, on July 19 and 20, 2014. On both days, we can participate in one CACIB international dog show each at the premises of the University of Debrecen Agricultural Science Center.

The summer CACIB international dog shows organized by the Eastern Hungary Dog Breeders Association have a long tradition. Since the 2000s, the Association has held this major two-day dog show almost every year. This show enchants exhibitors with its warm, friendly atmosphere, together with the night CACIB (a show known for many years under the name night CAC) dog show, which is even more magical in the mysterious lighting (our review on this will be available soon – ed.).

The Eastern Hungary Dog Breeders Association was established in the 1960s, then known as the MEOE Debrecen Organization. Specifically, in 1967 the hunting, herding, guarding-protection, and work departments were formed, and within the Association, training for these fields as well as guide dog training also started. In 1990, the Association became an Independent Legal Entity, and today it is recognized as the Independent Legal Entity with the largest number of members. Besides organizing the two major shows (2 x CACIB and the night CACIB) (which indeed require significant organizational effort by the Association – ed.), the Association also holds two to three work exams annually and ongoing training takes place in the guarding-protection, hunting, and agility work departments.
The important information about the 2014 2 x CACIB international dog shows is outlined below:

The location of the 2 x CACIB international dog show is Debrecen, which is Hungary's largest and most populous city, the cultural, economic, tourism, and transportation center of Eastern Hungary. Nowadays it is considered one of the most dynamically developing cities in our country.

The city of Debrecen is often referred to as the Calvinist Rome or the civic city, which in the 1300s gained market town status, then in the 1600s the rank of royal city, and has already been the country’s capital twice. Its history has been intertwined with the Reformation for centuries, and many historical relics convey this, including Kossuth Square, the Memorial Park, and the Nagyerdő Sculpture Park.

Among its sights, the symbol of the city stands out, the 19th-century classicist style Great Reformed Church, which is the largest Reformed church in the country and houses as a relic Kossuth Lajos’s armchair. The building is located in the heart of the city, at Kossuth Square, behind which stands the Reformed College operating since the 1500s, whose prestige was founded by its famous teachers and students. The College’s large library, with a collection of half a million volumes — including rare books — is registered as the largest collection of the Reformed Church in Hungary.
Next to the College is the building of the Déri Museum, built in a neo-baroque style. In its most famous part, the Munkácsy Hall, two works of Mihály Munkácsy’s world-famous Christ trilogy can be seen.

Another landmark in the city center is the venerable Aranybika Hotel, which is the oldest still operating hotel in the country, the Main Square, in the center of which the city’s coat of arms made of glass mosaic is embedded in the pavement, as well as the town hall building in classicist style, considered one of the most beautiful.

From the city's wide cultural offerings, the spectacular and wonderful Flower Carnival on August 20th, the Jazz Days, the Poetry Festival, and the Summer University events stand out.

The city’s most popular tourist event is the unique Flower Carnival in Europe. Hundreds of thousands come to the city for the spectacle related to the coronation of the state founder Saint Stephen and the new bread festival. The main event of the week-long series, the Flower Carnival, becomes more spectacular year by year; participants can see wonderfully beautiful flower compositions whose majestic fragrance is also not negligible. In addition, high-quality entertainment programs, concerts, dance performances, children’s programs, and as the crowning event, fireworks await families and guests attending the Flower Carnival.

Among Debrecen’s natural attractions, the Great Forest stands out, which starting from 1939 was Hungary’s first protected natural area, expanded with a zoo, amusement park, and botanical garden, whose original flora is identical to that of the Great Forest. In the arboretum, among about 8,000 plant species, one can also see many tropical rarities, furthermore, the European-renowned cactus collection representing 2,000 species and 10,000 plants is also located here.

The Zoo, which has welcomed visitors since 1958, can offer true relaxation for families. During nearly 60 years, the Zoo’s area has continuously expanded and it can now be said that a park meeting EU standards has been created, where families and guests visiting can see about 1,500 specimens of 165 species from 5 continents. The conditions provided for the species living here ensure significantly greater well-being and better comfort than before. Along with the 341 plant species found here, the area has been under nature protection since 1994.
