The Hód Dog Dog-friendly Association announces a 2 x CACIB International Dog Show in the city of Hódmezővásárhely on September 07 and 08, 2019. As the actual venue for the show, the association, as always traditionally, has chosen the Hód-Mezőgazda Zrt. Exhibition Center again this year.
The organizing Association, the Hód Dog Dog-friendly Association
The leadership of the Hód Dog Dog-friendly Association consists of breeders and working dog handlers, who work together to introduce dog lovers to the concept of cultured dog ownership. The Organization's dog school is one of the best sources for this, where dog-loving families, people, and children meet and learn together with their dogs.
The Hód Dog Center dog school was established in 2006, initially with only a few dog-loving members, but it did not take long to become the largest dog school in the city. Since then, the dog school has continuously welcomed dogs and their owners eager to learn with enthusiasm. At the dog school, owners can learn the proper handling of dogs and how to make it easier for others to accept the dog, for example, in a residential community; the dog school assists dog owners with behavioral, socialization, and obedience training. In addition, protection-guard training, preparation for work tests, and exhibitions are also available. The popular dog sport agility also attracts many enthusiasts. As a secondary goal, the school also deals with training working dogs. The sessions are available both in groups and individually, welcoming all dogs and their owners from puppyhood at their Saturday afternoon sessions.
The Hód Dog Dog-friendly Association, which has extensive experience in organizing shows, has been organizing dog shows almost every two years since the 2000s. Looking back over the past 9 years, they received the right to organize a CAC show from the parent association in 2010; in 2011, they were allowed to organize a double CACIB show, which was repeated two years later, and again in 2015 and 2017. This year, the Organization has again received the opportunity to organize the 2 x CACIB international dog show.
As a novelty this year, any dog that earns a CACIB title on both days will receive the title “Hód Dog Show Double Day Winner 2019”.
There will be a hobby dog beauty contest on both days of the show! Entry fee 3000 HUF/day! More information coming later!

Introducing the City of the Dog Show, Hódmezővásárhely
The city hosting the 2 x CACIB international dog show is Hódmezővásárhely, which is one of the most important economic and cultural centers of the Great Plain region, and the second-largest city in Hungary by area.
The area has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The first written records preserve the history of the settlements Hód and Vásárhely from the early 13th century. In the 15th century, Hódmezővásárhely was created from the merger of these two settlements, functioning primarily as a market town. The main livelihood of the population was provided by agriculture, markets, and livestock fairs. The city also suffered under Turkish rule; it was destroyed for the first time in the 1550s, then again at the end of the 1600s. The destroyed city was rebuilt in 1700. It took decades to repopulate the city. During the 1848-49 fights, the city’s youth took part in the battles in the southern region. The city really started to develop from the 1870s and by 1890 it was the fourth most populous city in the country. After World War I, the city was first occupied by the French, then by the Romanians, under which it suffered great damage. Until World War II, the city remained primarily agricultural, but after that, industry also began to play an increasingly important role. From the end of the 19th century, the city had a significant artistic life; the Great Plain landscape, the proximity of the Tisza, and the tranquility and beauty of the plains attracted creators here. Building on folk art traditions, a vibrant cultural life developed in the city from the beginning of the 20th century. Since the regime change, steady development has characterized the life of Hódmezővásárhely. In 1997, Hódmezővásárhely’s work in infrastructure development and social network expansion was recognized with the Europe Award. In 2009, Hódmezővásárhely was named Town of the Year, followed by receiving the Hungarian Heritage Award in 2010.
The city is continuously developing, and visitors can discover the numerous values of this historic market town, including the downtown area enclosed by Art Nouveau buildings, get to know the city’s spa, the modern sports pool, as well as the picturesque environment of the Tisza backwater. In the city center and the old districts radiating from here, one can find a good number of historic buildings, villas, and folk brick buildings. The city abounds with statues and outdoor fine art works, which prove that this is a Great Plain artist city. The city’s main square, Kossuth Square, is entirely landscaped and thus a favorite resting place for residents.
Among the built heritage of Hódmezővásárhely stand out buildings erected under the rule of the Károlyi family, such as the Reformed Old Church, the Alföld Gallery with its neoclassical building, the city’s oldest built heritage, the Romanesque and Gothic style Árpád-era Csomorkány Church Ruin from the 13-14th centuries. Another outstanding building is the City Hall in eclectic style, as well as one of the largest column-free ballrooms in the Great Plain, the Black Eagle Event Hall, which hosts balls and cultural events, the Greek Orthodox Church, the János Tornyai Museum, where many various temporary exhibitions can be viewed. On the city’s main street, in the middle of a small park, stands the Downtown Roman Catholic Church, whose central and two side naves were built based on the designs of Miklós Ybl in the mid-1800s. As can be read, the city is rich in religious buildings; the largest Baroque Reformed church in the Great Plain, the New Church, is also here, as well as the eclectic building of the Israelite temple, the Synagogue, whose building with characteristic Art Nouveau decoration was historically restored by the city on the 60th anniversary of the Holocaust. In Saint Stephen Square stands the Equestrian Statue of Saint Stephen, behind it the Saint Stephen Roman Catholic Church, built in 1936.
In the city’s Folk House, visitors can learn about the history of Vásárhely embroidery and ceramics. The Peasant Tools Cellar Museum serves as a private collection showcasing peasant life. The renovated Papi Windmill and Miller’s House increasingly provides venues for various programs.
The bath life in Vásárhely has a tradition of more than half a century. Next to the beach, the modern City Sports Pool, suitable for hosting international-level sporting events, continuously welcomes those eager to exercise.
Lovers of nature will also find entertainment here, the Kardoskút Fehértó in Hódmezővásárhely is a natural treasure. In part of Kardoskút Fehértó, the Hungarian Grey Cattle, racka, and cigány sheep herds of the Körös-Maros National Park Directorate can be found. These are protected breeds due to their indigenous status, carrying priceless value, and are recorded as valuable gene reserves. The area is rich in cultural-historical values. The Kardoskút museum is located near the protected area in Pusztaközpont. The exhibition summarizes and presents the history and natural values of the area. Changes in the landscape, flora, and fauna can be followed, illustrated with old maps, drawings, and photos. Informational boards help navigation within the protected area.
