At the last CAC dog show of the multicolored autumn, we can participate thanks to the Dunaújváros and Surroundings Dog Breeders Association (former MEOE Dunaújváros Organization) on September 28, 2014 in Dunaújváros. The venue of the show is the Szalki Island Camping area.
The Dunaújváros and Surroundings Dog Breeders Association organized a CAC dog show again in 2010 after an 18-year break. The show proved so successful that they were granted the right to organize it again for 2012 and could repeat the successful dog show. The Association has won the rights to organize the shows each time by application from the Hungarian Federation of Dog Breeders Associations. The biennial show tradition starting from 2010 continues this year as well, as the autumn’s last CAC national show can be organized by the Dunaújváros and Surroundings Dog Breeders Association. We primarily wish them much success in all this, as well as wonderful autumn weather!

The city of the dog show is Dunaújváros, which as the seat of the Dunaújváros district is the second most populous city in Fejér County. Dunaújváros lies at 116 meters above sea level, on the eastern edge of the Mezőföld and the right bank of the Danube. The Danube accompanies it for 10 kilometers on the east, and gentle hills surround it on the west.
The area was inhabited since ancient times, and in antiquity Intercisa played an important role in the life of the Roman Empire. The conquering Hungarians settled in the region in the early 10th century. Later excavations revealed Pentelén, considered the predecessor of Dunaújváros, which got its name from its patron saint, Saint Pantaleon of the Saint Pantaleon Abbey. The village was under Turkish rule from 1541 to 1688, and during the fifteen years war the population was completely wiped out. After liberation from Turkish rule, the Hungarian population was replaced by Serbs. The Serb population of Pentele took part in the Rákóczi war of independence, and after its defeat the village would have been emptied again if not for Hungarian settlers being brought to the municipality. After that, the settlement began intensive development. During the War of Independence of 1848-49, the people of the city fought under Kossuth's flag: after the defeat of the war, most of the population was forced into agricultural casual labor. During administrative changes following the Compromise, in 1870 Dunapentele was classified among the large municipalities.
The present city was built over six decades, incorporating and surrounding the former Dunapentele. Its everyday life is dominated by its character as an industrial city, with the Danube Ironworks built in its southern part, the Pentele district located at its northern end, and above it the New Town, which was developed taking functional aspects into consideration.
Among the sights of Dunaújváros stand out the protected values of the Old Town, primarily the over three hundred-year-old baroque Serbian Orthodox Rác Church and the one and a half century-old Neo-Romanesque style Holy Trinity Catholic Church, whose 27-meter high tower houses 3 bells. A relic of Roman times is the Stone Repository and the Ruin Garden with many gravestones and milestones. Along the picturesque Danube riverside promenades nearly 60 artworks form the International Steel Sculpture Park collection, which is also part of the Cultural Heritage.
During a walk in Dunaújváros, it is worth visiting the Reformed Church built in the 1980s, the Catholic Church completed in 2000, and the oval-plan Evangelical Church.
Dunaújváros is the city of sports, with several Olympians having started their careers here in swimming, athletics, handball, water polo, and football.
Among the city's cultural events, the traditional three-day summer welcoming Danube-side Parázs-Varázs event held every May stands out, where every age group can find a program to their liking.
The lungs of the city are formed by the large, well-maintained green areas, the protected trees and alleys throughout the city, and the natural opportunities provided by the Danube make it livable and attractive. The defining features of the cityscape are the spacious green areas and flowered parks, which soften the monumentality of individual buildings well. The industrial areas are also separated from the city by wooded sections. The presence of the natural environment ensures the ecological balance of the settlement.
Part of Dunaújváros is Szalki Island, which previously only had an industrial role in the city, but thanks to continuous development over the past decade, it has been transformed into a recreational area. On Szalki Island you can find the sculpture park, fisherman's tavern, ferry and here is also the Camping site, which in this case serves as the venue for the CAC dog show.
All interested parties, guests, exhibitors with their dogs are warmly welcomed by the Dunaújváros and Surroundings Dog Breeders Association to Dunaújváros, to the green area of Szalki Island Camping for the last CAC dog show of the year!
