The last CAC National Dog Show of the month of June will be held on June 28, 2014, organized by the Gyula Dog Club Public Benefit Association. The venue for the C.A.C show is the Thermal Camping and Motel area in Gyula.
The Gyula Dog Club Public Benefit Association (formerly the MEOE Gyula Association) won the right for the first time in 2009 from the parent association to organize the 2010 CAC dog show. The show proved to be so successful that the Association was also able to hold a CAC show in 2012.
The former Gyula Organization of the Hungarian National Association of Dog Breeders was established 27 years ago, which operated as a MEOE member association until 2011. At that time, it underwent a significant transformation (like the other member associations that undertook becoming independent legal entities). The MEOE Gyula Organization from the following year onwards, continued its work under the name Gyula Dog Club Public Benefit Association. The independence did not start smoothly, as the Club began financially from scratch, with the Club’s assets consisting solely of the membership fees collected. Since then, the Association has strengthened financially and this year is organizing the CAC National dog show for the third time, having won the organizing rights last year from the Hungarian National Association of Dog Breeders.

The city of the C.A.C national dog show organized by the Gyulai Kutyás Klub is Gyula, which is a significant tourist center of Békés County, and at the same time one of the country’s most popular resort towns. This peaceful small town is located in Hungary’s lowest lying area in the southeastern part of the Great Plain, on the left bank of the Fehér-Kőrös. The population of the city has now reached 30,000.
Gyula is also one of the country’s most popular bathing and festival towns. It offers a wide variety of programs for culture lovers and those wishing to relax, such as the Gyulai Days and the Végvári Evenings series of events, the Firefighter band and Majorette Festival, the Végvári Pentecost, and the Dance Festival of All Hungarians. It welcomes visiting guests and tourists with its parks, monuments, and atmospheric streets.
Gyula is not called the “City of Waters” without reason, as the small town is crossed by charming canals in many places, where you can row boats and pedal boats. In recent years, the city has embarked on major developments to symbolize the “City of Waters”; a series of fountains spray water jets on the Old Kőrös, and fountains and water features have also been built on the town square, recently expanded with light and sound shows, making them even more spectacular in the evening illumination.
The Gyula Castle Bath with 19 thermal pools is located in the 8.5-hectare nature conservation area of the Almásy Castle. Everyone can find entertainment at the castle bath. The beach bath offers fun for the whole family, while the spa section is suitable for elderly people seeking healing. The European-standard spa’s thermal wells produce 72°C medicinal water, excellent for treating musculoskeletal disorders and rehabilitation after accidents.
One of the city’s main attractions is the Gothic-style Gyula Castle built in the 15th century, a unique intact lowland brick castle in Central Europe. Nowadays, the castle houses the Castle Museum, which presents the medieval world of the castle through 24 exhibition rooms. Inside the castle walls operates the Gyula Castle Theatre, which welcomes visitors with varied programs all summer long. Furthermore, the Castle Garden is also the venue for many cultural and outdoor events.
The city’s famous native is Ferenc Erkel, Hungarian composer, conductor, pianist, and famous chess grandmaster, the composer of the Hungarian National Anthem and the creator of the national opera. His birthplace now functions as a Museum, and his bronze bust can be found in front of the Century-old Confectionery, on Erkel Square.
The Century-old Confectionery, the second oldest confectionery in our country, has been operating since 1840, and with its 150-year-old, renovated Biedermeier furnishings, it evokes the atmosphere of the last century. The old confectionery workshop has been turned into a museum, where you can view the products of confectionery workshops of the era. It is worth stopping here during our sightseeing walk and allowing the atmosphere of bygone times to touch us.
The city also pays attention to the beautification and flowering of public spaces and parks. As a result, in 2007, the city of Gyula won 1st place in the “2007 Flowering Hungary” environmental beautification competition. Thus, Gyula represented Hungary in the 2008 European Competition of Blooming Cities and Villages, where it won a silver award.

Gyula city, past and present:
The exact location of the C.A.C exhibition in Gyula is at the Thermal Camping and Motel area. The Thermal Camping is located in Gyula’s resort zone, on a 3.2-hectare area surrounded by a park and a belt of forest, in a quiet and friendly environment. It serves as an excellent venue for organizing various large-scale events, and traditionally hosts dog shows. This year as well, dog owners and guests are welcome at the Camping area.
Below we would like to inform guests and families intending to visit the exhibition about the parking and admission fee rates:
The amount of the parking and admission fee is always determined by the respective Dog Breeders’ Association organizing the dog show, so we cannot precisely indicate a numeric value in advance, only an estimated amount.
The parking fee can range between HUF 1000 and HUF 4000 (depending on the city where the exhibition is held).
The admission fee varies, ranging from HUF 500 to HUF 2000 per person, but in most cases, children and pensioners either do not pay at all or enjoy greater discounts.
The Gyula Dog Club Public Benefit Association warmly welcomes all interested parties, guests, and exhibitors with their dogs to a quality CAC dog show at the end of June!
