The closing exhibition of the most beautiful month of spring is the CAC National Exhibition in Szentes, in which we can participate organized by the Szentes Association of Dog Breeders and Sports Dog Handlers on May 30, 2015. The venue of the CAC exhibition is the Kalandpark area located on the Kurca riverbank in Szentes.
The history of the Association organizing the exhibition dates back to the year 1968. It was established that year under the name Szentes Dog Club, which in 1970, after being accepted as a member association by MEOE, changed its name and continued operating under the name MEOE Szentes Organization. Along with this and at the same time, the Organization's dog school was also founded, which at that time welcomed dogs and their owners wishing to socialize with socialization training and dog shows preparation sessions.
Starting from the 1980s, the Organization experienced its heyday, its dog school became increasingly popular, and its membership constantly grew until the late 1990s, after which a steep decline was observed, as was the case with other MEOE member organizations. By early 2011, the Organization had hit rock bottom, from which, after the formation of the new leadership, they managed to recover through friendly cooperation.
The MEOE Szentes Organization significantly transformed at the end of 2011, and its legal successor became the Szentes Association of Dog Breeders and Sports Dog Handlers. The new Association, retaining the image of the old Organization, enriches dog life with numerous interesting dog-related programs, further developing the operation of the dog school with specialized trainers at a higher level, allowing room for exercising with dogs and sports dog activities. The well-functioning dog school welcomes those eager to learn with socialization, obedience, guarding-protection, and exhibition preparation training. The goals of the dog school include promoting cultured, responsible dog ownership and broadly introducing the possibilities of dog sports together with sports dog handling. Various courses of the dog school can be attended with dogs of any gender and age, purebred or mixed breed. The dog school of the Szentes Association of Dog Breeders and Sports Dog Handlers warmly welcomes everyone who wishes to learn and engage in sports!

“In Szentes we can see lots of greenery, renovated beautiful buildings, youthful energy, we can see hospitable people, the smiles of hospitable people, and the most beautiful thing is always when people can smile, because the shortest way between two people is a smile, and in Szentes there are only short distances” – with these kind words, the Mayor of the city invites everyone interested to the city of the CAC dog show, Szentes.
Szentes is located in the Southern Great Plain, in the northern part of Csongrád county, east of the Tisza. The city is divided by the Kurca River, which is also a symbol of Szentes. The city’s location allows access by road, rail, waterway, and air.
Several written records remain about the history of Szentes, and the rich archaeological finds prove that the settlement has been inhabited since the Neolithic period. During the conquest of the homeland, several ethnic groups passed through this settlement, which fought continuously with each other. The settlement was often a victim of fierce battles; the Cumans, Tatars, and then the Turks also destroyed it, but it always revived from its ashes. After the Turks were expelled, it became a treasury estate. In 1730, it received city and market rights. At that time, the palm tree symbol appeared on the city’s seal, later also on its coat of arms, expressing the persistent will to live and constant renewal of the people of Szentes. The city’s golden age dates back to the 19th century, a period of continuous growth. Szentes became the seat of Csongrád county, which led to vibrant industrialization and rapid urbanization. Between the two world wars, economic growth slowed. After 1945, economic reconstruction began, but in the following years, culture became dull. In the 1960s, the city’s agricultural and industrial products were sought after in both Eastern and Western markets. The transformation started in 1990 initiated the reorganization of economic life, but the settlement remained fundamentally agricultural.
Szentes is the city of waters and museums. Numerous museums can be found in Szentes, among which the first to mention is the Koszta József Museum, which has been operating since 1897 and now preserves the second largest archaeological collection in Csongrád county. The Szentes City Gallery opened its doors to the public in the 1970s with exhibitions of artists from or originating from Szentes. Since then, the Gallery has hosted annual exhibitions of these artists, as well as ethnographic and numerous other thematic exhibitions. The Fridrich Light Writing Studio, built in 1905 and renovated in 1997, is the only provincial light writing studio in the country, where photographs, instruments, tools, and equipment of János Fridrich and his daughters, as well as other Szentes photographers, can be viewed. It also houses the photo collection of the local history collection of the Szentes museum. One of the most visited public cultural institutions in Szentes is the City Library, operating in the former Synagogue building, which provides high-quality cultural services for both children and adults.
Among other valuable sights in Szentes, we must mention its churches, of which the city has plenty. First, we mention the Baroque Saint Anne Catholic Church, built in the 1760s. It obtained its current classicizing form in 1847. Today it serves as a permanent venue for concerts. The Great Reformed Church is the church with the longest nave in the Great Plain, featuring both Classicist and Baroque style elements. There is a gallery on the upper balcony of the building. The Saint Nicholas Hungarian Orthodox Church was built at the end of the 18th century in late Baroque style, with an iconostasis and murals inside, and a fresco depicting Saint Nicholas in an external wall niche. The Lutheran Church was built in neo-Gothic style at the very beginning of the 1900s. Gothic architectural elements are clearly visible on the building.
One of the city's curiosities is geothermal energy. The Szentes region is home to Hungary's largest and Europe's most dense geothermal field, with 32 thermal wells providing water hotter than 65°C within the city, making it the second largest geothermal heating system in Europe, operating in the city for almost 20 years now, which is a very green and environmentally friendly solution. The Thermal Spa, the hospital, and numerous industrial and agricultural establishments also utilize the thermal water. This thermal water also produces a lot of vegetables for the country and Europe, as the Szentes paprika and tomato are well-known and protected as Hungaricum products.
Szentes is a thriving town full of vibrant cultural and sporting life, where traditions are respected and nurtured, but room is also made for development. The city proudly holds the title of National City of Sports. It received this honorable title in 1996. The citizens are sports enthusiasts, with many clubs and associations operating here. Traditionally, swimming and water polo are favored activities, while the popularity of combat sports and Eastern martial arts is more recent.
Culture plays a huge role in the life of the city, with virtually an event every day. The locals strive to create as many programs as possible to enhance the city's values and preserve their traditions. Literary, classical music, theatrical, and visual arts evenings are all part of the offering. Among their regular events are traditional and unconventional occasions, as well as sports festivals. Numerous folk tradition preservation events – Winter Farewell Carnival, Summer Theatre, Autumn Square Festival – are also held, attracting tourists from far away. Their most popular event since 1999 is the annually held lecsó festival. In the homeland of paprika and tomato, the ancient Hungarian dish, lecsó, boils in kettles. The cooking competition is also enriched with cultural programs.
The city is also abundant in natural sights. One of the most beautiful is the Széchényi Park, developed over decades, which is a natural environment surrounded by the Kurca River. In 1953, the National Nature Conservation Council declared it a local nature reserve. Today, the Park is the central element of Szentes' tourism. The specific location of the CAC dog show, the Kurca riverside Adventure Park area, is also found in Széchényi Park, where every visitor, guest, exhibitor along with their dogs is warmly welcomed with a great CAC dog show and colorful dog programs by the Association of Szentes Dog Breeders and Sport Dogs.
Below we would like to inform guests and families intending to visit the exhibition about the parking and entrance fee amounts:

The parking fee can range between HUF 1,000 and HUF 4,000 (depending on the city where the show is held).
