The Association of Dog Breeders of Eastern Hungary (formerly the Debrecen Organization of MEOE) announces the end-of-summer Night CACIB Show for August 23, 2014. Unlike usual, starting from last year, this night dog show is held not at the end of July but at the end of August. The Dog Breeders have traditionally chosen the Kossuth Barracks Sports Field as the venue for the dog show.
The summer Night (this year no longer CAC but CACIB) international dog show organized by the Association of Dog Breeders of Eastern Hungary has a long tradition. The first Night dog show was held by the Association 16 years ago, in 1998 (in which we also participated and it was already a great experience for us then – ed.), then under the name Night Regional Dog Show. For four consecutive years, this night dog show appeared as a Regional show on the Breeders’ program, and in the following more than 10 years, it became known as Night CAC both for exhibitors and visiting guests.
Every year, a large number of exhibitors and guests arrive at this show, as its warm friendly atmosphere enchants people. This is further enhanced by the friendly and kind atmosphere experienced from the Association, and at this show every exhibitor receives a bottle of special wine as a gift every year. The Association’s President, Mr. Sándor Szabó, gives special attention to the ladies, gifting each one a single red rose, which the President personally presents to the ladies at the show (I note this is a very nice gesture on the part of the Association and the President – ed.).
The judging, starting before sunset, extends into the night, whose mysterious lights enchant both exhibitors and visitors alike. The beginning of the Best In Show can already be admired in the mystical light of the lamps, offering a delightful spectacle in the darkness of night. The association members assisting in the practical organization of the show receive praise every year for their work in staging this event.
The Association of Dog Breeders of Eastern Hungary was established in the 1960s, then still named the MEOE Debrecen Organization. Specifically, in 1967 the hunting, herding, guard-protection, and working sections were established within the Association; within this framework, training for these as well as for guide dogs also began. In 1990 the Association became legally independent, and now it is recognized as the largest independent association in terms of membership. Besides organizing the two major shows (2 x CACIB and the night CACIB) (which indeed requires considerable organizing work from the Association – ed.), the Association also holds two to three working trials annually and continuous training sessions take place in the guard-protection, hunting, and agility working sections.

The Night CACIB international dog show takes place in Debrecen, which is Hungary's largest and most populous city, the cultural, economic, tourism, and transportation center of Eastern Hungary. Today it is considered one of the most dynamically developing cities in our country.
The city of Debrecen is often referred to as the Calvinist Rome or a civic city, which gained market town status in the 1300s, then royal city status in the 1600s, and has been the capital of the country twice. Its history has been intertwined with the Reformation for centuries, as many historical memorials testify, including Kossuth Square, the Memorial Park, and the Great Forest Statue Park.
Among its attractions, the city's symbol stands out: the 19th-century classicist style Great Reformed Church, which is the largest reformed church in the country and in which Kossuth Lajos' armchair is preserved as a relic. The building is located in the heart of the city, in Kossuth Square, behind which is the Reformed College operating since the 1500s, whose prestige was established by its famous teachers and students. The College's large library, with its half-million volumes—including rare books—is registered as the largest collection of the Reformed Church in Hungary.
Next to the College is the Déri Museum building, built in the neo-baroque style. In its most famous part, the Munkácsy Hall, two works of Mihály Munkácsy's world-famous Christ trilogy can be seen.
Another landmark in the city center is the historic Aranybika Hotel, the oldest still operating hotel in the country, the Main Square, which features the city's coat of arms made of glass mosaic embedded in the decorative paving at its center, as well as the classical style City Hall building, which is among the most beautiful.
Among the city's rich cultural offerings, the spectacular and wonderful Flower Carnival on August 20th stands out, along with the Jazz Days, the Poetry Festival, and the Summer University events.
The city's most popular tourist event is the uniquely European Flower Carnival. Hundreds of thousands come to the city to see the spectacle related to the coronation of Saint Stephen, the founder of the state, and the celebration of the new bread. The main event of the week-long series, the Flower Carnival, becomes more spectacular every year, with participants able to see beautiful floral compositions whose magnificent scent is not to be neglected. Additionally, high-quality and entertaining programs, concerts, dance performances, children's programs, and as the day's crowning event, fireworks await families and guests attending the Flower Carnival.
Among Debrecen's natural attractions, the Great Forest stands out, which from 1939 became Hungary's first nature conservation area, expanded with a zoo, amusement park, and botanical garden, whose original flora is identical to that of the Great Forest. In the arboretum, among approximately 8,000 plant species, tropical rarities can be seen in abundance, furthermore, the European-famous cactus collection representing 2,000 species and 10,000 plants is also located here.
The Zoo offers real relaxation for families, welcoming visitors since 1958. Over nearly 60 years, the area of the Zoo has continuously increased, and today it can be said that a park meeting EU standards has been established, where families and guests visiting can see about 1,500 specimens of 165 species from 5 continents. The conditions provided for the species living here offer significantly greater welfare and better well-being than before. The area, together with its 341 plant species, has been under nature protection since 1994.

The East Hungarian Dog Breeders Association warmly welcomes all interested parties, guests, and exhibitors with their dogs to Debrecen for a magical summer-closing Night CACIB international dog show!
