The Association of Dog Breeders of Eastern Hungary Night CACIB dog show announces July 23, 2016. The Dog Breeders have traditionally chosen Debrecen as the venue for the dog show, specifically the Kossuth Barracks Sports Field.
The Association of Dog Breeders of Eastern Hungary was established in the 1960s, then still known as the MEOE Debrecen Organization. In 1967, the hunting, herding, guard-protection, and work departments were formed, then within the Association these trainings as well as the training of guide dogs also started. In 1990 the Association became an Independent Legal Entity, and nowadays it is counted as the Association with the largest membership. Besides organizing the two major shows (2 x CACIB and the night CACIB), the Association also arranges two to three work exams and breeding tests annually, as well as continuous training in the guard-protection, hunting and agility departments.
The night dog show has a great tradition, the Association held the first show of this kind 18 years ago, in 1998, then under the name Night Regional Dog Show. This night dog show appeared for 4 years as a Regional show in the Breeders’ program. In the following more than 10 years the show rose to CAC rank, and since 2014 exhibitors and visitors know it as the Night CACIB international dog show.
Every year a large number of exhibitors and guests arrive for this show, as its warm friendly atmosphere enchants people. This is additionally contributed by the friendly and kind atmosphere experienced from the Association. It has been a recurring tradition for years that every exhibitor receives a bottle of special wine, and as a kind gesture from Mr. Sándor Szabó, the ladies receive a single red rose as a gift, which the President personally hands to the ladies at the show.
The judging starts before sunset and slips into the night, whose mysterious lights enchant the present exhibitors and visitors alike. The Best In Show can be admired at the start in the mystical light of the lamps, offering a visually stunning spectacle in the darkness of the night. The association members who actively assist in the practical organization of the show are praised every year for their work in holding the event!

The venue of the night CACIB international dog show is Debrecen, which is Hungary's second largest and most populous city, as well as the cultural, economic, tourism and transportation center of Eastern Hungary. Nowadays it is considered one of the most dynamically developing cities in our country.
The city of Debrecen is often referred to as the Calvinist Rome or civic city, which gained the status of a market town in the 1300s and royal city status in the 1600s, and has served as the country's capital twice. Its history has been intertwined with the Reformation for centuries, as evidenced by numerous historical monuments, including Kossuth Square, the Memorial Park, and the Great Forest Statue Park.
Among its sights, the city's symbol stands out: the 19th-century classicist style Great Reformed Church, which is the country's largest reformed church and where the armchair of Lajos Kossuth is preserved as a relic. The building is located in the heart of the city, at Kossuth Square, behind which lies the Reformed College, operating since the 1500s, whose reputation was built by its famous teachers and students. The College's grand library, with a collection of half a million volumes – including rare books – is registered as the largest collection of the Reformed Church in Hungary.
Next to the College we find the Déri Museum building, constructed in neo-baroque style. Its most famous part is the Munkácsy Hall, where two works from Mihály Munkácsy's world-famous Christ trilogy can be seen.
Another landmark of the city center is the prestigious Aranybika Hotel, which is the oldest continuously operating hotel in the country; the Main Square, where the city’s glass mosaic coat of arms is set in decorative paving in the center; and the town hall building in classicist style, which is among the most beautiful.
Among the city's rich cultural offerings, the magnificent and colorful Flower Carnival on August 20th, Jazz Days, the Poetry Festival, and the Summer University events stand out.
The city's most popular tourist event is the unique Flower Carnival in Europe. Hundreds of thousands of people come to the city for the spectacle linked to the coronation of Saint Stephen, the state founder, and the celebration of the new bread. The main event of the week-long series, the Flower Carnival, becomes more spectacular every year, with participants seeing stunning floral compositions, whose majestic fragrance is also noteworthy. In addition, high-quality entertaining programs, concerts, dance performances, children's programs, as well as fireworks as the crowning event await families and guests who come to the Flower Carnival.
For families, the Zoo, which has been welcoming visitors since 1958, can provide real relaxation. During nearly 60 years, the Zoo's area has continuously expanded, and today it can be said that a park meeting EU standards has been created, where families and guests visiting can see about 1500 specimens of 165 species from 5 continents.
The conditions for the species living here provide significantly greater well-being and better comfort than before. The area, together with the 341 plant species found here, has been under nature protection since 1994.
Among Debrecen's natural attractions, the Great Forest stands out, which starting from 1939 became Hungary's first nature reserve, expanded with a zoo, amusement park, and botanical garden, whose original plant life is identical to that of the Great Forest. In the arboretum, among approximately 8000 plant species, there are many tropical rarities to see, and the European-famous cactus collection representing 2000 species and 10,000 plants is also located here.
The venue of the dog show, the sports field of Kossuth Barracks, warmly welcomes every visitor, guest, exhibitor with their dogs along with an atmospheric dog show organized by the Eastern Hungary Dog Breeders Association.
