3 x CAC = Hungária Champion.
- a veteran dog that obtains the CAC title in the veteran class at all three shows automatically receives the Hungária Veteran Champion title, meaning
3 x Veteran CAC = Hungária Veteran Champion.
The organizing Association of the show, the MEOE Miskolc Independent Jurisdiction Association
The MEOE Miskolc Independent Jurisdiction Association has a long tradition in organizing dog shows, as since crossing into the 2000s, it has nearly every year received the right from the parent association to organize national or international dog shows.
Looking back at the international shows, the Association was able to hold 2 x CACIB international shows in 2008 and 2010. This continued in 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2017 under the name “Marathon Dog Show”, expanded by + one “Holdvilág” CAC national dog show. Thus, over two days, exhibitors and visitors could participate in 2 international CACIB and 1 national CAC dog shows.
The 67-year-old MEOE Miskolc Independent Jurisdiction Association places great emphasis on the socialization of puppies and young dogs in its well-functioning dog training school. Therefore, within the dog school, a dog kindergarten operates as the first step for baby and puppy-aged dogs and their owners, who can participate in socialization training first. The dog training school named “Az ÉN Kutyaiskolám” operating on the former Stromfeld barracks area offers work and hobby dog training under the guidance of renowned master trainers. Young and adult dogs can take part in various training sessions with their owners, including obedience, companion dog, and sit training sessions, as well as special ring discipline preparation for those preparing for shows. The leadership of the MEOE Miskolc Independent Jurisdiction Organization and the master dog trainers warmly welcome dogs and owners wishing to learn to various courses of “Az ÉN Kutyaiskolám” in the future.

Introducing the city of the dog show, Miskolc
The city of the Marathon Dog Show is Miskolc, which is the county seat of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County and Hungary's third most populous city, as well as the cultural and economic center of the county. The city is located in the valleys of three rivers, embedded on the eastern side of the Bükk Mountains, and owes its exceptional natural beauty to this wonderful setting.
Archaeological finds indicate that the area has been inhabited since ancient times, and today it is considered the oldest continuously inhabited area in Hungary. It was an important trading town in the Middle Ages, and after the Turkish occupation, its industry began to develop. The city flourished from the 1900s onward, endeavoring independently to become the major city, industrial, commercial, financial, and cultural center of the region. During the socialist era, Miskolc became a stronghold of heavy industry. In the years following the regime change, the focus in the city shifted to culture and tourism.
The most significant sights in the downtown area include the City Hall built in romantic style, the Saint Stephen statue surrounded by beautiful floral areas, Erzsébet Square with the Erzsébet Bath, the People's Garden with its fairy-tale promenades, which houses the Sculpture Park, including a statue of Queen Elisabeth. Other sights and monuments are the Romanesque Avasi Reformed Church, the Baroque style Greek Orthodox Church, the Hungarian Orthodox Church Museum presenting the history and heritage of the Greek Orthodox Church, the Wooden Church, and the building of the Miskolc National Theatre, enriched with romantic elements in late classical style.
The surroundings of the city, including Miskolctapolca, Diósgyőr, and Lillafüred, offer numerous attractions.
Located in Miskolctapolca, which belongs to the city, is the magical cave bath, one of the most atmospheric and romantic places in the city. The thermal bath is very popular among both locals and tourists, as the bath in the cave system and outdoors is an ideal choice at any time of year, whether for a romantic relaxation, a family vacation, or night bathing.
In historic Diósgyőr stands the Gothic castle, which for centuries was a love gift from kings to queens. The Diósgyőr Castle was built in the 15th century and flourished during the reign of King Louis the Great; today it is one of the country's most significant monuments. The medieval castle ruins and restored buildings themselves are considered a living museum.
Of the originally approximately 2500 m2 palace with about 50 rooms, the four tall towers and the ground floors of the connecting wings remain, along with some upper floor ruins. Inside the castle, one can see a castle history and weapons exhibition, wax figures of King Louis the Great and the Venetian envoy, a panopticum, and a mint. The castle is especially worth visiting in summer, when castle games entertain visitors, transporting them back to the era of the Sun King.
The area surrounding the city also attracts nature lovers, as Lillafüred, one of the country's most beautiful natural areas, belongs to Miskolc. Here, visitors can view natural treasures such as the Lillafüred waterfall, one of the few waterfalls in Hungary.
But here you can find the Szinva valley, Hámori lake, the Anna cave, considered a world rarity, and the largest limestone cave in the region, the István cave. Lillafüred can truly be easily explored thanks to the Lillafüred State Forest Railway built here, which passes by wonderful landmarks and attractions.
The Avasi Arboretum located within the city boundaries of Miskolc is among the city's natural sights. Its design and planting of plant species began in 1986, and out of the 6-hectare area, currently a 1.5-hectare park section planted with pines and evergreens is open to visitors, where the caretakers aid orientation by placing signboards. The Avasi Arboretum hosts the richest conifer collection in our country; nearly 1000 specimens of 600 plant species can be studied here. The collection is especially rich in Hungarian-bred pine species. In the arboretum, there are 12 types of cedar, 36 types of larch, 39 types of spruce, 55 types of pine with needle bundles, 9 types of redwood, 136 types of false cypress, 173 types of juniper, 37 types of yew, and 96 types of thuja. On a new 4.5-hectare area, the planting of deciduous trees has also begun.
The Miskolc Zoo and Cultural Park located in a wonderful forest environment in the Csanyik valley is one of the youngest and at the same time one of the oldest institutions with long traditions in our country. Written records prove that already in 1355 a royal game park operated in this area, founded by King Louis the Great.
At the Zoo, we can observe nearly 700 individuals of more than 300 animal species from 5 continents in an environment similar to their natural habitat. Besides native species, here you can see one of Central Europe's largest wolf packs, as well as admire numerous birds, big game, and predators. The zoo's area is adjacent to the Bükk National Park, offering visitors a taste of its rich flora.
A special feature of the zoo is the nature conservation sculpture park. Here, a tribute is paid to those European naturalists who played a defining role in the development of modern zoo culture; and with life-sized, bronze-cast statues of extinct animal species, it draws attention to the irreversible damage humans can cause to nature. The Zoo always welcomes visitors with colorful events, offering diverse programs for all age groups to choose from.
The city day of Miskolc is celebrated every year on May 11th, when the city blooms, and its squares, parks, and streets are decorated with more than 100,000 annual flowers.
The beautifully magnificent Flower Clock located in Szent-István square also gains its final form by this time so it can shine uniquely in its fairy-tale form on the city day.
"The city where it is good to live, where something is always happening, where visitors always find experiences, where competitions can be held on Europe's longest main street, where many come and where many more could come. Miskolc, a city worth visiting and getting to know more closely."
Come and visit too, the organizers warmly welcome you!
