The MEOE Independent Organization of Nyíregyháza is organizing a CAC National dog show on the first day of meteorological summer, June 01, 2014. The C.A.C. show will take place at the usual venue, on the grounds of the traditional Sóstó Open-Air Museum.
The best operating dog breeding organization in the Szabolcs region is the Independent Organization of Nyíregyháza, which has been continuously organizing dog shows for more than 20 years, and since the 2000s has held dog shows almost every year (which we appreciate very much, as locals of Szabolcs County, we have participated several times and thoroughly enjoyed it – editor’s note).
It can be said that the show held at the Sóstó Open-Air Museum attracts large crowds year after year, partly due to the unique venue, and partly because it is a pleasure to “dog together” and meet other dog-loving exhibitors in the mildly summery, pleasant weather. The special atmosphere of the CAC dog shows organized by the Nyíregyháza Organization captivates both the exhibitors and the visitors.
A special highlight of the show is the awarding of the József Babicz memorial prize. József Babicz was the president of the Nyíregyháza Organization for many years, and for over twenty years he worked with the German Shepherd breed, bred and trained them, and also held the German Shepherd breed specialist judge qualification, judging the breed successfully at international shows. He passed away suddenly in 2008. His place in training the German Shepherds and, from August 2011, as president of the Organization was taken by his son, Csaba Babicz.
The current leadership consists of breeders and young working dog handlers, and together they work to involve the younger generation in dog activities from childhood, to introduce children to responsible animal love and animal keeping. The Organization’s “Dog Champion” Dog School is one of the best sources for this, where dog-loving families, people and children meet and learn together with their dogs. Almost every age group is represented among the school’s students, from 10-year-old children to 60-year-old adults. The Dog School helps dog owners with behavioral, socialization, and obedience training, teaching its students to handle dogs with love and patience. Sessions take place on Sunday mornings. The “Dog Champion” Dog School also actively participates in various events with discipline and protection demonstrations, which are very popular among spectators.
The “Dog Champion” Dog School invites dog lovers eager to learn with the following programs:
As part of the colorful dog programs related to the 2014 CAC National dog show, exhibitors and guests can watch the county RKF dog demonstration as well as the local dog school group’s agility demonstration. The organizers welcome exhibitors and visitors from 7 a.m. at the venue, with the opening ceremony starting at 9:30 a.m., and judging beginning around 10:00 a.m. in the rings. The dog demonstrations take place from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. The Best In Show starts at 2:30 p.m., where the winning dogs parade and the most beautiful dog of the exhibition is selected.

The city of the Dog Show is Nyíregyháza, which is the seat of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county and the 7th largest city in Hungary, and also the economic and cultural center of the Nyírség region. The city has been continuously developing since the 1990s and stands out from the cities of the eastern regions of the country from a tourist point of view. Among its downtown sights, the most significant are the City Hall, the Korona Hotel, the County Hall, the Móricz Zsigmond Theatre, the Jósa András Museum, the Roman Catholic, Greek Catholic, Reformed and Evangelical churches, as well as the Tuzson János Botanical Garden located on the premises of the Nyíregyháza College.
The surroundings of the city also attract nature lovers. Sóstói Park Forest, Városliget, and the area around Bujtosi Lake are visited annually by countless hikers guided by their love of nature. The Sóstó Spa, which promises a pleasant refreshment to visitors in every season, is a favorite relaxation spot for those who want to rest and heal.

The Nyíregyháza Zoo (Sóstó ZOO), the largest zoo in the country, is located in the Sóstó holiday area, where we can see 5000 individuals of 500 species in an environment similar to their natural habitat. The Zoo covers 24 hectares, blending into its surroundings while leaving the local natural treasures untouched. In the Zoo, we can admire the animals arranged by continent. The goal of the layout was to allow visitors to travel across the Earth and thus get to know the animal world of each continent. The Zoo considers habitat preservation important, therefore it collaborates with local nature conservation organizations in rescuing and treating injured individuals of protected and strictly protected species. The Zoo is able to offer something new and educational to visitors of all ages. With their spectacular educational and cultural programs, they pay special attention to encouraging and teaching children to love animals.

We visited the Nyíregyháza Zoo:
The CAC dog show is traditionally hosted year after year in the Museum Village located in Nyíregyháza Sóstófürdő. During this time, we can meet hundreds of "dog people" in the courtyards of the old houses, on the porches, and on the paths leading to the farms.
The open-air Museum Village, opened in 1979, promises a true spectacle for visitors with the characteristic architecture and traditions of the regions of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, where we can admire the most beautiful pieces of folk architecture. In the Museum Village, we can also gain insight into an old school, grocery store, and pub. The Museum Village is also the ethnographic museum of the county, as it houses the entire ethnographic collection of the Jósa András Museum.
The Museum Village offers many different and diverse programs almost all year round, and besides these, permanent exhibitions also await visiting guests. In 1996, the Museum Village was awarded the title "Museum of the Year," and in 2006, the title "Family-Friendly Museum."
