Many of us know and love Lassie and Beethoven, the famous and skilled dog stars of recent decades. Similar to them, the wonderful dog star of the 21st century with amazing abilities is, Jumpy, who is a parkour dog.
Watch this incredible video where Alex Van Duong, a professional parkour athlete, and Jumpy showcase their extraordinary skills. Jumpy, a 5-year-old border collie/blue Australian shepherd mix, is one of Hollywood's best stunt dogs. Smart, strong, and healthy, blessed with a brilliant spirit. You don't see a parkour dog like Jumpy every day, who can keep pace in perfect harmony with the stuntman Alex. Jumpy follows Alex and is ready for every trick, walking on his front paws, running, jumping, climbing up trees, down from trees, skateboarding, balancing, flying. Amazing! Watching the acrobatic moves in slow motion is truly fantastic!
Jumpy performs tricks just as intense as Alex. It's one thing to skateboard, we've seen that before, but for a dog to do a backflip from a standstill! Mind-blowing!
Jumpy was trained by Omar Van Muller, one of the world's most skilled and famous Hollywood animal trainers. Omar's excellently trained dog team, capable of dazzling tricks, has already demonstrated their fantastic skills in numerous TV commercials, movies, and online videos. Watch this short presentation and you can see for yourself how frighteningly smart Jumpy the dog is:
In this training video, we mainly admire Jumpy’s intellectual abilities:
Jumpy is fantastically intelligent and his physical abilities are impressive, which makes him a wonderful stunt and parkour dog.
Now surely many people wonder, what does the word "parkour" mean? The answer is a truly special extreme sport in which one moves from one place to another over obstacles using as spectacular moves as possible.
The street extreme sport called le parkour, or simply parkour, is usually credited as being “invented” by French David Belle, along with David’s father and Sebastien Foucan. In the late 1980s, David – whose father was a professional soldier – sowed the seeds of a sport that would shortly grow to international proportions. The young Belle was driven by a love of boundless freedom, which took him into the forest where he spent all day developing his athletic abilities. When his father decided to move from the countryside to a suburb of Paris, David had to adapt to the urban environment. A few years later Belle met Sebastien Foucan, and after some time, together with a few other youths, they founded the Yamakasi clan. The modern form of parkour, including most of its tricks, essentially developed during that time. A French film titled “Yamakasi” was also made about this, which has since grown into a cult film among practitioners of the sport.
As we have already mentioned, the essence of parkour is to get from point A to point B as quickly and spectacularly as possible. In this extreme sport, arrival or jumping over an obstacle is important neither from a health nor speed perspective. A bad step or jump can damage a joint, which could even lead to serious injury. For this reason, fundamentally parkour does not include acrobatic tricks and flips, but only provides a means for fast travel. “Free running” is a similar sport to “parkour,” which is often confused with it. In free running, besides “simple” running, jumping, and climbing, there are also flips and acrobatic tricks, but fundamentally the two sports are very similar to each other.
In this incredibly extreme sport, Jumpy the dog is one of the most skilled, who has developed a truly harmonious friendly relationship with Alex over their time together.
And this is how you can end a hard day!
