The last stop of the 2014 domestic exhibition season was the MKSZ CAC Derby Dogshow held on October 19th.
About MKSZ exhibitions in general
The exhibitions organized by MKSZ (Hungarian Dog Handlers Association) and its member organizations have so far been undeservedly neglected in the media, although they are generally characterized by a family-like, excellent atmosphere, good organization, and a professional level no weaker than the MEOESZ exhibitions. In terms of organization, I would like to highlight the exhibitions organized by the National Terrier Club led by Dr. Anikó Pozsonyi and the National Club of Companion Dog Owners led by Benjámin Görbe. FCI (International Cynological Federation) licensed judges are invited to the judging, so state-recognized breeding organizations have every reason to accept the results achieved here. The awarding is generally considered to be of a higher standard than at MEOESZ exhibitions.
The “Strázsa” as a concept
Except for four provincial locations (Mosonmagyaróvár, Zalalövő, Pomáz, Nyíregyháza), the exhibitions are held on the grounds of the Strázsa Dog School in the greenery of Népliget. This was also the case now. The dogshow took place in a larger clearing among the trees of Népliget; after a cool morning, the weather was kind to us. The venue is easy to reach, the parking is spacious and close, and both entry and parking were free for exhibitors and visitors alike, as always.
About the exhibition
The specialty of the exhibition was the awarding of the Derby titles. They decorated the venue very stylishly among other things, since the Derby is an autumn exhibition, so the decoration mainly consisted of chrysanthemums and large pumpkins. Following the usual initial delay typical of domestic exhibitions, thanks to thorough judging, the last rings were scheduled after noon, so there was not much waiting for the Best In Show (BIS) gala.
Although there were still some soft-hearted judges and a judge who thought not every dog presented was excellent, somehow there wasn’t much cause for serious complaints.
The author of these lines was certainly not offended, since beyond the fact that Black Jade Pakony Barry, HCH Black Jade Pakony Roxy, and Giving of Good Primus Inter Pares with CAC cards in hand could be led out of the ring, with MultiCH Black Jade Pakony Magic Silvester as the most beautiful male pug, the only missing title from the "collection" was the Derby winner (in fact, Best Derby), which was also successfully acquired, then in the afternoon we won dog pairs together with Roxy, and then complemented by Barry, we could stand in 2nd place in the Breeding Group on the imaginary podium.
We could stand in 2nd place in the Breeding Group on the imaginary podium. Afterwards, in the Champion BIS, we again went solo and made it into the top 5 for another round, and finally, as the highlight of the day, we had to pose for the photographers in 3rd place at the Derby BIS.
Next year with you – in the same place?
The MKSZ exhibition calendar for next year is currently uncertain, “thanks to” the MEOESZ’s effort, which now seems to want to terminate the cooperation with MKSZ in a breach of contract manner, culminating in the fact that it no longer wishes to transfer the FCI license to MKSZ. This would mean that although FCI licensed judges would judge at MKSZ exhibitions, the results could not be entered in the pedigree register.
Currently everything is fluid, there are various possibilities, including that the FCI rights might remain. The important thing is that MKSZ and its member organizations will continue to operate next year, there will be exhibitions next year, the question is only where and in what form.
There are many of us who, with or without MEOESZ exhibitions, primarily for the atmosphere and the venue, would still like to attend MKSZ exhibitions.
