I don't know how others feel about it, but for me it has always been a huge dilemma (and still is) which dog food to feed my dog. That's why we thought we'd ask the visitors of Kutya Portál. Through a very simple questionnaire, we collected who feeds their pet with what and how satisfied they are with it on a scale of 1 to 10.

Quite interesting correlations emerged from nearly 15,000 completed questionnaires, for which we are gratefully thanking the respondents here.

Feedback was received on nearly 100 types of dog food, but by far the most respondents (16%) feed Royal Canin products. However, this was not the brand that received the highest rating on the 1-10 scale. Respondents were most satisfied with these 5 brands, in this order (they received the highest scores):

  1. Belcando
  2. Orijen
  3. Platinum
  4. Acana
  5. Arion

Finally, Kutya Portál also made its own rating based on the questionnaire responses on a scale of 1 to 5. This scoring includes the top 20 dog foods. The final result was shaped based on the following criteria:

  • dog foods were scored from 1 to 5 based on the number of feeders (the higher points were given to those fed by more people)
  • dog foods were also scored from 1 to 5 based on the received ratings (the higher points were given to those rated higher by respondents)
  • finally, price level also played a role in the final rating, dog foods received points from 1 to 5 (the higher points went to the cheaper ones, fewer points to the more expensive ones)

Based on these criteria, an average value emerged. Naturally, the average was increased if the food was fed by many and highly rated, but reduced if it was expensive.

Very important to note! This rating does not reflect how good or bad a dog food is, since this varies as much as possible depending on the dog's breed, size, habits, taste, (God forbid) illness and many other parameters. This is merely a public opinion survey, based on the combined and averaged feedback of Kutya Portál's wonderful and active community.
