At the last CAC dog show of the multicolored autumn, thanks to the Dunaújváros and Surroundings Dog Breeders Association, we can participate on October 23, 2016 in Dunaújváros. The venue of the exhibition is the Szalki Island Camping area.

The Dunaújváros and Surroundings Dog Breeders Association organized a CAC dog show again in 2010 after an 18-year hiatus. The exhibition proved to be so successful that they were granted the right to organize it again in 2012 and 2014 and they repeated the successful dog shows. The biennial exhibition organizing tradition that started in 2010 will not be broken this year either, as the association can organize the last CAC national exhibition of this autumn. We wish them much success and a rain-free, wonderful autumn weather!

The city of the CAC exhibition is Dunaújváros, which as the seat of the Dunaújváros district is the second most populous settlement in Fejér county. Dunaújváros lies at an altitude of 116 meters above sea level, on the eastern edge of the Mezőföld and on the right bank of the Danube. To the east, the Danube accompanies it for 10 kilometers, while to the west it is embraced by gentle hills.

The history of the city reveals that the area was already inhabited in ancient times and in antiquity played a significant role in the Roman Empire under the name Intercisa. The conquering Hungarians settled in the area at the beginning of the 10th century. Excavations from later periods revealed Pentele, the predecessor of Dunaújváros, named after its patron saint, Saint Pantaleon. The village was under Turkish rule from 1541 to 1688, and the population was completely wiped out during the Fifteen Years’ War. After liberation from Turkish rule, the Hungarian population was replaced by Serbs. The Serb population of Pentele participated in the Rákóczi War of Independence, after which the village would have been emptied again if Hungarian settlers had not been brought to the community. Subsequently, the settlement began an intensive development. During the 1848-49 War of Independence, the people of the town fought under Kossuth's flag, and after the defeat of the war, most of the population was forced into agricultural wage labor. During administrative changes following the Compromise, Dunapentele was classified as a large village in 1870.

The present city was built over six decades, incorporating and surrounding the former Dunapentele. Its daily life is dominated by an industrial city character; in the southern part the Dunai Vasmű (Danube Ironworks) was built, in the northern end lies the Pentele district, and high above it is Újváros (New City), built with functional considerations in mind.

Among the sights of Dunaújváros, the protected values of the Old Town stand out, primarily the over three hundred year old baroque Serbian Orthodox Rác church and the one-and-a-half century old neo-Romanesque Holy Trinity Catholic Church, whose tower is 27 meters high and houses 3 bells. A relic of the Roman era are the Stone Museum and the Ruin Garden with numerous tombstones and milestones. Along the picturesque Danube riverside promenades, nearly 60 artworks form the collection of the International Steel Sculpture Park, which is also part of the Cultural Heritage. On a walk in Dunaújváros, it is worth visiting also the Reformed Church built in the 1980s, the Catholic Church completed in the year 2000, as well as the oval-plan Lutheran Church.

Dunaújváros, the city of sports, several Olympians have spread their wings here, whether it's swimming, athletics, handball, water polo, or football.

Among the city's cultural events, the traditional three-day summer welcoming Riverside Ember-Magic event held every May stands out, where every age group can find a program to their liking.

The city's lungs are formed by large, well-maintained green areas, protected trees and tree rows throughout the city, and the natural opportunities provided by the Danube make it liveable and attractive. The cityscape is defined by spacious green areas and flowered parks that effectively soften the monumentality of individual buildings. Forested areas separate the industrial zones from the city. The presence of a natural environment ensures the ecological balance of the town.

Part of Dunaújváros is Szalki Island, which previously only had an industrial role in the city, but thanks to continuous development over the past decade, it has been transformed into a recreational area. Szalki Island features a sculpture park, a fisherman’s tavern, a ferry, and also the Camping site, which in this case serves as the venue for the CAC dog show, where everyone interested, guests, and exhibitors with their dogs are warmly welcomed by the Dunaújváros and Surroundings Dog Breeders Association with a colorful dog exhibition!
