The city of the CAC dog show is Kiskunfélegyháza, which is located in the Kiskunság region.
…Where my heart and soul / Always longed to return from everywhere / At last I have seen again the land of my birth / The beautiful Kiskunság! – writes Sándor Petőfi, our greatest Hungarian poet, who was a lover of this region. He always wrote with great love about this region, the landscape, the people living here, and Kiskunfélegyháza, where he spent his childhood years.
Kiskunfélegyháza is the third largest city in Bács-Kiskun county, known not only through Petőfi, but also as the birthplace of Ferenc Móra, writer and journalist. Since 1972, a museum presenting the life and work of the writer operates in the birthplace of this classic of Hungarian prose, where we can see the room of Ferenc Móra along with his personal belongings.
Until the 5th century, the area was inhabited by the Szatmári people, followed by the Huns, who were replaced by the Avars in the 6th-7th centuries. Few relics have survived from the era of the conquest, but what is certain is that according to King Stephen's law, the first Hungarian Christian church was built. The Cumans came to the Félegyháza area in 1239. After the Battle of Mohács, the Turks destroyed the area. Resettlement began again around 1729. In 1774, the town was granted market town status by Maria Theresa.
In this city, Sándor Petőfi and Ferenc Móra took their first steps. Petőfi was not definitely born here, but he considers this city his birthplace. István Petrovics had a butcher shop on the site of today's Swan House, and the family also ran a tavern. Petőfi began attending school here at the age of 5, at today's Constantin school. The family moved away from Félegyháza in 1830.
Ferenc Móra spoke about his hometown as follows: "Other writers also have a place of birth, other writers also love their hometown, but for me Félegyháza is more than a birthplace for other writers, more than a memory. Félegyháza made me a writer – which I would not want to deny – my Hungarian language was also given by Félegyháza, my sober worldview was also given by Félegyháza, and besides, everything that is dear to me is in Félegyháza: Daru Street, my childhood. Félegyháza means my father to me, his serenity and my mother's soothing hand, it means the loyalty that accompanies you to the grave: it means everything to me…”
Among the sights of Kiskunfélegyháza, we must highlight the Swan House built in the early 1800s in classicist style, named after the swan-shaped sign on its gable. The Swan House currently houses the city library named after Sándor Petőfi, where in one of its rooms you can also see the poet's memorial exhibition.
Kiskunfélegyháza is also a significant school city. Educational institutions offer learning opportunities to many students beyond the city's region. The oldest and most famous schools are named after Sándor Petőfi and Ferenc Móra.
The association has chosen the City Park Forest area as the venue for the exhibition, where all interested visitors, guests, exhibitors are warmly welcomed with their dogs to a high-standard CAC dog show!
