Dear Reader!
Although rare, it sometimes happens that a support-requesting article appears on Dog Portal. This post is one of those rare events. Kitty Zaja sent a letter to our editors in which she asks for support to realize her dream. The creation of this article also proves that Kitty’s goal touched us, and we certainly consider her dream worthy of support.
Let’s help Kitty together with a vote so that her dream can come true and the “Huskys girl” can go on a real sled dog tour to the Arctic Circle. You can cast your vote by clicking here!
Here is Kitty’s letter:
In the mornings before school I work, maybe about 3 weeks ago I heard Ottó Balogh on the Class Fm Morning show.
Despite being cold and allergic to dog hair, she is preparing for the Iditarod, which is the world’s number one and toughest sled dog race.
My mother has been breeding Siberian Huskies since 1989, so fortunately dogs, dog shows, and sports with them have become an integral part of my life since childhood.
One of my dearest memories is when in 2009 a husky we bred became the world’s most beautiful husky.
A husky postcard brought change to my mother’s life. For me, it is this radio conversation. I realized that the biggest “love” of mine, the most obvious thing, has been neglected in my life for four years.
I learned that a clothing brand organizes a five-day tour every year for civilians from all over the world. Two years ago a high school classmate of mine got to go on this tour. This year I am trying my luck.
Since the start of voting, I have received countless kind emails and messages from friends, acquaintances, and even more strangers.
I managed to get in touch with Ottó Balogh, who stood by me and supported me in achieving my goal, and he said this on his official page:
“I am grateful to Kitty because she wrote that my Morning Show conversation gave her the impulse to take steps toward her dream… many don’t see it, but there is indeed value in setting an example and inspiring… ‘I live on in young hearts.’ Ady”
In 2014, an American man from Florida went on this “challenge.” We also managed to “find each other.” He said the five days had such an impact on him that he has since lived in Alaska and driven dog sled teams.
