Thanks to the Vasi Cynological Association, the 2-day CACIB and the evening CAC Dog Show in Szombathely will be held on July 15 and 16, 2017. At the CACIB dog show, dogs of the ten breed groups compete over two days. On Saturday, July 15, dogs belonging to breed groups I, II, and IX will be judged. After the international show, the all-breeds evening CAC dog show will be held starting at 18:00. The 2-day CACIB continues on Sunday, July 16 with the judging of dogs belonging to breed groups III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, and X. The venue of the show is the Sportliget sports facility in Szombathely (tented, grassy sports field).
The Vasi Cynological Association (formerly known as MEOE Szombathely Organization) held its first dog show in 1968, followed by many more over the years. Their Dog Training School also began operating in the same year. During this time, the Organization worked with an enthusiastic core group implementing the principle of “Together – For Each Other.” In the well-functioning dog school of the Vasi Cynological Association, dogs and their owners learn together in various courses, such as obedience and guard-protection. They welcome working dog handlers to preparatory courses for work tests, and dogs between 3 and 8 months old are accepted in the puppy school.
Paying tribute to dog training and dog sports, a new dog sport center began operating in the city in the fall of 2013. Besides the traditionally counted training sessions, the sport center introduced team sports such as flyball and agility, which are based on agility and the harmonious relationship between the dog and its owner.
The leadership of the Association was renewed in 2012, and among their future goals is to promote the cohesion of the dog community. As stated in the words of the Association’s President – “Let us set an example through collective thought, compassion, selfless, and interest-free love for animals.” In light of these thoughts, all dog-loving owners and exhibitors are warmly invited with their dogs to the 2-day CACIB and the evening CAC dog shows!

The venue of the 2-day CACIB & the evening CAC dog show is Szombathely (Latin name Savaria, also called the “Queen of the West”), which is the oldest established city in Hungary. Its population is more than 80,000 people.
Walking through the streets of Szombathely, we can experience the intertwining of the Roman era and modern life, stepping from a world exuding millennia-old atmosphere into the present.
The city, rich in historical and cultural traditions, is characterized by dynamic tourism development and numerous festivals held in the city, such as the Savaria Dance Competition, International Bartók Festival, Savaria Carnival, as well as many international fairs.
In addition to Szombathely’s rich sights and colorful program options, the natural conditions and attractions of the surrounding area are also excellent destinations for hikers. The city’s parks, the Historical Theme Park, the Boating Lake, the Lake Bath, the Vasi Open Air Museum, and the Kámoni Arboretum are all popular excursion spots.
Among its natural sights, we must mention the Kámoni Arboretum, located on the banks of the Gyöngyös creek, which is the country’s largest, 27-hectare botanical garden, containing the tree and shrub species of temperate and cold climates.
In the Kámoni Arboretum, over 1000 conifer species live alongside 2000 deciduous tree species. The pride of the garden every year are the magnificent Rhododendron bushes showcasing 50 varieties, which make the garden most complete during their May bloom.
The Vasi Open Air Museum presents the peasant lifestyle and folk architectural culture of old times. The Museum Village opened its doors in 1973, and 43 buildings from 27 settlements have been successfully rebuilt on its grounds. The introduction of native Hungarian farm animals and regular traditional preservation programs complete the life of the Museum Village.
The actual venue of the international dog show and the evening CAC is the Sportliget sports facility, where the Vasi Cynological Association warmly welcomes all interested parties, guests, exhibitors with their dogs with a colorful CACIB and a high-standard evening CAC dog show!
