The second show of the last month of spring is the Zalaegerszeg CAC National Dog Show, where we can participate organized by the Zala County Cynological Association on May 7, 2017. The location of the CAC show is in Zalaegerszeg, surrounded by natural beauty

The second exhibition of the last month of spring is the CAC National Exhibition in Zalaegerszeg, which we can attend organized by the Zala County Cynological Association on May 07, 2017. The venue of the CAC exhibition is in Zalaegerszeg, in the Kézművesek Háza in the area of the Gébárti Leisure Center, which is rich in natural beauty.

The Association was founded in 1994 from the community of dog breeders and dog owners living in and around Zalaegerszeg as the Nagylengyel Organization of the Hungarian National Association of Dog Breeders.

The goals of the Association:

  • Strengthening the relationship between humans and nature, actively assisting in the protection of the environment and nature, with special regard to the provisions of the animal protection law, and widely promoting the rules of cultured dog keeping.
  • Organizing events conducted by breeding organizations and the cynological peak organization, organizing cynological courses, lectures, publishing cynological books and journals, promoting, organizing, coordinating, and supporting sports and leisure activities related to cynology.
  • Cynological education and training, skill development, public education, cynological cultural activities, cynological expert activities.
  • Nature protection, animal protection, environmental protection, animal health activities, supporting animal protection organizations.

Due to legislative changes in 2012, another change occurred in the life of the Association in 2013, when it became an independent association. Thus, in January 2013, the Zala County Cynological Association was founded from the members of the Nagylengyel Organization of the Hungarian National Association of Dog Breeders (MEOE).

In the year of its foundation, they already applied to organize a CAC exhibition, which they were awarded by the parent association. The event ended successfully, after which several exhibitions, competitions, breeding inspections, and tracking tests were also organized.

The Zala County Cynological Association can consider itself fortunate in organizing dog exhibitions, as from the mid-2000s it has been able to hold a CAC National exhibition nearly every year. The Association obtained the right to organize exhibitions each time by application from the Federation of Hungarian Dog Breeders' Associations. The Association with a 22-year history organized the CAC dog exhibition in 2006 and 2008 in Zalaegerszeg, in 2009 in Nagylengyel, in 2012 at the Zalaegerszeg City Sports Hall, and in 2013 again in Zalaegerszeg, but this time in the area of the Gébárti Leisure Center. The dog exhibitions held in recent years have been so successful that the Zala County Cynological Association is also allowed to organize the C.A.C National exhibition in 2017.

The Zalaegerszeg Television made a short video recording about the 2016 event. We now recommend this as a teaser to our Readers:

Thousand valleys. Thousand bends, thousand hills, thousand forest islets./ Thousand dwellings, white wine cellars, old wine cellars with iron doors, fairy-like / valley bends… the blackbird’s whistle sprinkles the landscape. The landscape which/ is incomparable. The landscape, which is unique.”

The venue of the CAC National dog show is one of Hungary’s greenest and most colorful cities, Zalaegerszeg, which lies on both banks of the Zala river, embraced by the picturesque Zalai hills.

The city, with a population of more than 60,000, is a popular excursion destination thanks to its favorable natural endowments and sights. Due to its rich cultural values and diverse events, many visitors come to the city every year.

Zalaegerszeg is considered one of Hungary’s most colorful and greenest cities, for which it received the Golden Rose award from the Organizing Committee of Flowering Hungary in 2008, and in 2009, 2010, and 2011 the city was an award winner at the “Flowering Hungary” competition.

Among its natural attractions, we must mention the Csácsi arboretum located in the eastern part of the city (among others, the exhibition venue, the Gébárti Leisure Center, together with Lake Gébárti, can be found here), with its 60-hectare protected area where every native tree species found in Hungary can be found. The protected area is surrounded by a 750-hectare forest, and a small lake and walking paths make it attractive for nature lovers.

In the lower forest, in the mountain-like arboretum, lies the Azalea Valley, which takes its name from the azaleas found there. From mid-May, the azaleas and rhododendrons bloom, thanks to which Azalea Valley dazzles visitors and tourists with wonderful views and scents. Azalea Valley is freely accessible at all times.

The Dog Breeders have chosen the landscaped green area of the Gébárti Leisure Center located directly on the shore of Lake Gébárti as the exhibition venue. The impressive 31-hectare Lake Gébárti is the largest artificial lake in the area. The lake area is crisscrossed with walking paths, on its peninsula there is an outdoor beach, and its landscaped surroundings offer pleasant relaxation for swimmers, water sports enthusiasts, and anglers as well.

The Zala County Cynological Association warmly welcomes all interested parties, guests, and exhibitors with their dogs to a quality CAC dog show on May 7th!
