Thanks to the Vasi Cynological Association, the 2-day CACIB and the evening CAC Dog Show in Szombathely will be held on July 14 and 15, 2018. At the CACIB dog show, dogs of the ten breed groups compete over two days. On Saturday, July 14, dogs belonging to the I., II. and IX. breed groups will be judged. After the international show, the all-breed evening CAC dog show will take place starting at 18:00. The 2-day CACIB continues on Sunday, July 15 with the judging of dogs from the III., IV., V., VI., VII., VIII., and X. breed groups. The venue of the show is the Sportliget sports facility in Szombathely.

The organizing Association, the Vasi Cynological Association

The Vasi Cynological Association (formerly known as the MEOE Szombathely Organization) held its first dog show in 1968, followed by many more exhibitions over the years. Their Dog Training School also began operating that same year. At that time, the Organization worked with an enthusiastic core team implementing the principle of "Together – For Each Other". In the well-functioning dog school of the Vasi Cynological Association, dogs and their owners learn together in various courses such as obedience and guard-protection. They offer preparatory courses for working dog examinations and welcome dogs aged between 3 and 8 months to the dog kindergarten.

Paying tribute to dog training and dog sports, a new dog sports center started operating in the city in the fall of 2013. Besides the already traditional trainings, team sports such as flyball and agility — which build on agility and the harmonious relationship between dog and owner — were introduced at the sports center.

The leadership of the Association was renewed in 2012, with future goals including promoting the unity of the dog-owning community. As stated by the Association’s President – "Let us set an example by thinking together, with compassion, selfless, and interest-free love for animals." In light of these sentiments, all dog-loving owners and exhibitors are warmly invited to the 2-day CACIB as well as the evening CAC dog shows with their dogs!

Introducing the city of the dog show, Szombathely

The venue of the 2-day CACIB & the evening CAC dog show is Szombathely (Latin name Savaria, also known as the “Queen of the West”), which is Hungary’s oldest founded city. Its population is over 80,000.

Walking through the streets of Szombathely, one can experience the blend of the Roman era and modern life, stepping from a world radiating millennia-old atmosphere into the present.
The city, rich in historical and cultural traditions, is characterized by its dynamically developing tourism and the many festivals held here, such as the Savaria dance competition, International Bartók Festival, Savaria carnival, as well as numerous international fairs.

Besides Szombathely’s rich sights and colorful program opportunities, the natural features and attractions of the surrounding area are excellent destinations for hikers. The city’s parks, the Historical Theme Park, the Boating Lake, the Lake Spa, the Vasi Open-Air Museum Village, and the Kámoni Arboretum are all popular excursion spots.

Among its natural attractions, we must mention the Kámoni Arboretum located on the bank of the Gyöngyös stream, which is the largest botanical garden in the country, covering 27 hectares, featuring tree and shrub species of the temperate and cold zones.

In the Kámoni Arboretum, over 1000 conifer species and 2000 deciduous tree species also live. The pride of the garden every year are the magnificent Rhododendron bushes showcasing 50 varieties, which make the garden at its best during their May bloom.

The Vasi Open-Air Museum Village presents the peasant lifestyle of old times as well as the folk architectural culture. The Museum Village opened its doors in 1973, reconstructing 43 buildings from 27 settlements on its area. The introduction of native Hungarian farm animals and the regular traditional programs complete the life of the Museum Village.

Come and visit! The organizers look forward to welcoming you!

The Vasi Cynological Association warmly welcomes all interested parties, guests, exhibitors, and their dogs to 3 colorful and high-quality dog shows!
