Organized by the Zala County Cynological Association, on May 05 and 06, 2018, we can participate in 2 x CAC national dog shows. The venue of the CAC show is in Zalaegerszeg, at the Gébárti Leisure Center Camping area, rich in natural beauty.
The organizing Association of the show is the Zala County Cynological Association
The Association was formed in 1994 from the community of dog breeders and dog owners living in and around Zalaegerszeg, as the Nagylengyel Organization of the National Hungarian Dog Breeders Association.
The goals of the Association:
- Strengthening the relationship between humans and nature, actively assisting in the protection of the environment and nature, with special regard to the provisions of the animal protection law, widespread dissemination of the rules of civilized dog keeping.
- Organizing events arranged by breeding organizations and the kynological top organization, organizing kynological courses and lectures, publishing books and magazines on kynology, promoting, organizing, coordinating, and supporting sports and leisure activities related to kynology.
- Kynological education and training, skill development, public education, kynological cultural activities, kynological expert activities.
- Nature conservation, animal protection, environmental protection, veterinary activities, support for animal protection organizations.
For the protection of animals, the Association works in close cooperation with the county police, authorities, and other animal protection associations.
Due to legal changes in 2012, another change occurred in the life of the Association in 2013, when it became an independent association. Thus, in January 2013, the Zala County Cynological Association was established from members of the Nagylengyel Organization of the Hungarian Dog Breeders National Association (MEOE). In its founding year they already applied to organize a CAC show, which they were granted by the parent association. The event was a success, after which they also organized several shows, competitions, breeding inspections, and tracking trials.
The Zala County Cynological Association can consider itself lucky in organizing dog shows, as from the mid-2000s it was able to hold a CAC National show almost every year. The Association obtained the rights to organize the shows each time through a tender from the Hungarian Dog Breeders National Association Federation. The 22-year-old Association organized this CAC dog show in 2006 and 2008 in Zalaegerszeg, in 2009 in Nagylengyel, in 2012 at the Zalaegerszeg City Sports Hall, and in 2013 again in Zalaegerszeg, but already at the Gébárti Leisure Center area.
The dog shows held in recent years proved to be so successful that the Zala County Cynological Association will organize a double CAC dog show in 2018! 2 national dog shows in one weekend! We wish good work and much success in the organization and execution!

Introducing the city of the dog show, Zalaegerszeg
„A thousand valleys. A thousand bends, a thousand hills, a thousand forest islets./ A thousand dwellings, white wine cellars, old wine cellars with iron doors, fairy-like / valley bends… the blackbird’s whistle sprinkles the landscape. The landscape which/ is incomparable. The landscape which is unique.”
The venue of the CAC National dog show is one of Hungary’s greenest and most floral cities, Zalaegerszeg, which lies on both sides of the Zala river, embraced by the picturesque Zalai Hills.
The city, with a population of more than 60,000, is a popular excursion destination thanks to its favorable natural conditions and sights. Due to its rich cultural values and diverse events, many visitors come to the city each year.
Zalaegerszeg is regarded as one of Hungary's most floral and green cities, for which it was awarded the Golden Rose prize in 2008 by the Committee Organizing the Virágos Magyarország (Flowering Hungary), and in 2009, 2010, and 2011 the city received special prizes in the “Virágos Magyarország” competition.
Among its natural sights, we must mention the Csács arboretum located in the eastern part of the city (among other things, the exhibition venue, the Gébárti Leisure Center, is located here along with Lake Gébárti), which has a 60-hectare protected area where all native tree species of our country can be found. The protected area is surrounded by a 750-hectare forest, and a small lake and walking paths make it attractive for nature lovers.
In the Alsóerdő, in the mountainous atmosphere arboretum, there is the Azalea Valley, which gets its name from the azaleas found there. From mid-May, the azaleas and rhododendrons bloom, thanks to which the Azalea Valley enchants visiting guests and tourists with its wonderful scenery and scent. The Azalea Valley is open to visitors at all times.
Location: Gébárti Leisure Center
The Dog Breeders chose the landscaped green area of the Gébárti Leisure Center as the venue for the exhibition, which is located directly on the shore of Lake Gébárti. The impressive 31-hectare Lake Gébárti is the largest artificial lake in the area. Walking paths network the lake area, there is an outdoor beach on its peninsula, and its landscaped surroundings offer pleasant relaxation for bathers, water sports enthusiasts, and anglers alike.
