The Hód Dog Dog-Friendly Association announces a 2 x CACIB International dog show in the city of Hódmezővásárhely on September 09, 2017 and 10. As the actual venue of the show, the association, as traditionally every time, chose the Hód-Mezőgazda Zrt. Exhibition Center also this year.
The management of the Hód Dog Dog-Friendly Association consists of breeders and working dog handlers, and together they work to familiarize people with the concept of cultured dog keeping. The Organization’s dog school is one of the best sources for this, where dog-loving families, people, and children meet and learn together with their dogs.
The Hód Dog Center dog school was founded in 2006, initially with only a few dog-loving members, but it didn’t take long and it became the largest dog school in the city. Since then, the dog school eagerly welcomes dogs and their owners who want to learn. At the dog school, people can learn the proper treatment of dogs and how to facilitate the acceptance of dogs, for example, in a residential community; the dog school supports dog owners with behavioral, socialization, and obedience training. Additionally, guard-protection training, preparation for working trials, and exhibition preparation are also offered. The popular dog sport, agility, attracts many enthusiasts. As a secondary goal, the school also deals with the training of working dogs. The sessions can be attended in groups or individually, and they welcome everyone from puppy age onwards at their Saturday afternoon sessions.
The Hód Dog Dog-Friendly Association, with extensive experience in organizing shows, has held dog shows almost every two years since crossing into the 2000s. Looking back over the past 7 years, in 2010 they obtained the right to organize a CAC show from the parent association, and in 2011 they were able to organize a double CACIB show, which was repeated two years later and again in 2015. This year, the Organization has once again received the opportunity to hold the 2 x CACIB international dog show.
As a highlight this year, any dog that wins the CACIB title on both days will be awarded the “Hód Dog Show Double Day Winner 2017” title.

The city of the 2 x CACIB international dog exhibition is Hódmezővásárhely, which is one of the most important economic and cultural centers of the Great Hungarian Plain and Hungary's second largest city by area.
The area has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The first written records preserve the history of the Hód and Vásárhely settlements from the early 13th century. In the 15th century, these two settlements merged to form Hódmezővásárhely, which mainly functioned as a market town. The main livelihood of the population was provided by agriculture, markets, and livestock fairs. This city also suffered under Turkish rule; it was first destroyed in the 1550s and then again at the end of the 1600s. The destroyed city was rebuilt in 1700. It took decades for the city’s population to be resettled. During the battles of 1848-49, the youths of the city took part in the southern battles. The city really started to develop from the 1870s, and by 1890 it was already the fourth most populous city in the country. After World War I, the city was first occupied by the French, then by the Romanians, during which it suffered great damage. Until World War II, the city remained agricultural in nature, but afterwards industry also began to play an increasingly significant role. From the end of the 19th century, the city had a significant artistic life; the Great Plain landscape, the proximity of the Tisza River, the quietness and beauty of the puszta attracted creators. Building on the traditions of folk art, a vibrant cultural life developed in the city from the beginning of the 20th century. Since the regime change, Hódmezővásárhely has been characterized by steady development. In 1997, Hódmezővásárhely’s work was recognized with the Europe Prize for infrastructural development and the expansion of the social network. In 2009, Hódmezővásárhely became the Settlement of the Year, and in 2010 it received the Hungarian Heritage Award.
The city is continuously developing, and visitors can discover numerous values of this historic market town, the downtown enclosed by Art Nouveau buildings, get acquainted with the city’s spa, the modern sports pool, and the picturesque environment of the Tisza backwater. In the city center and the old districts starting from here, there are many historic buildings, villas, and folk brick buildings. The city is rich in statues and outdoor fine art creations, which prove that this is an artist city of the Great Plain. The city’s main square, Kossuth Square, is fully landscaped and is a favorite resting place for the locals.
Among Hódmezővásárhely’s built heritage stand out the buildings constructed under the rule of the Károlyi family, such as the Reformed Old Church, the Alföld Gallery in a classical style, the city’s oldest built heritage, the Romanesque and Gothic styled Árpád-era Csomorkány church ruin from the 13th-14th centuries. Another outstanding building is the Town Hall in eclectic style, as well as one of the largest column-free ballrooms in the Great Plain, the Black Eagle Event House, which hosts balls and cultural events, the Greek Orthodox Church, the János Tornyai Museum, which houses various temporary exhibitions. In the city’s main street, in the middle of a small park stands the Downtown Roman Catholic Church, whose central and two side naves were built based on the plans of Miklós Ybl in the mid-1800s. As can be read, the city has many religious buildings; the largest Baroque Reformed Church of the Great Plain, the New Church, is also located here, as well as the eclectic building of the Israelite Temple, the Synagogue, whose distinct Art Nouveau decorated building was authentically renovated by the city for the 60th anniversary of the Holocaust. The St. Stephen Equestrian Statue stands in St. Stephen Square, behind which is the St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church built in 1936.
At the city’s Folk House, visitors can learn about the history of Vásárhely embroidery and ceramics. The Peasant Tools Cellar Museum serves as a private collection showcasing peasant life. The renovated Papi windmill and miller’s house is also increasingly hosting various programs.
Vásárhely’s bathing life has a tradition spanning more than half a century. Alongside the beach, the modern City Sports Pool, suitable for hosting international level sports competitions, continuously welcomes sports enthusiasts.
Nature lovers will also find entertainment here, as the Kardoskút White Lake is a natural value of Hódmezővásárhely. In part of the Kardoskút White Lake, the Hungarian Grey Cattle, Racka, and Gypsy sheep stock of the Körös-Maros National Park Directorate can be found. These are protected animal breeds due to their indigenous status, carrying invaluable values, recognized as a valuable gene reserve. The area is rich in cultural and historical values. The Kardoskút museum is located in the nearby Pusztaközpont. The exhibition summarizes and presents the history and natural values of the area. The changes in the landscape, plant, and animal life can be followed with old maps, drawings, and photos illustrating them. Information boards assist orientation in the protected area.
This year’s dog show will also be held in the Hód-Mezőgazda Zrt. Exhibition Center, where the Hód Dog Dog-Friendly Association warmly welcomes all interested visitors, guests, and exhibitors with their dogs to the 2 x CACIB international dog show!
