The MEOE Independent Organization of Nyíregyháza is organizing a Jubilee CAC dog show on May 28, 2017, in Nyíregyháza. The CAC dog show will be held at the usual location, the traditional Sóstó Open Air Museum Village area.
In 1957, a few enthusiastic dog lovers came together and formed an association to promote dog keeping, breeding, and training, whether it is for hobby, exhibition, or sport purposes, while also keeping in mind the popularization of Hungarian breeds.
The Association is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, which they are making even more memorable with a Jubilee CAC exhibition. The Independent Organization of Nyíregyháza has been continuously organizing dog shows for over 20 years. With the help of an active leadership and the support of the members, they have been able to hold a national CAC dog show almost every year after a successful international CACIB dog show, thanks to the recognition of their work by the MEOE Federation.
The dog show attracts large crowds to the Sóstó Open Air Museum every year, both visitors and exhibitors alike. The special venue, friendly atmosphere, and pleasant weather all contribute to exhibitors enjoying "dogging together" and meeting other dog-loving exhibitors. The unique atmosphere of the CAC dog shows organized by the Nyíregyháza Organization captivates both the exhibitors participating in the show and the guests attending.
Within the exhibition, the József Babicz memorial exhibition will take place with the presentation of the memorial award. József Babicz was president of the Nyíregyháza Organization for many years, and for more than twenty years he worked with the German Shepherd breed, breeding and training them, and he also held a specialist judge certification for the German Shepherd breed, judging the breed successfully at foreign exhibitions. He suddenly passed away in 2008. His position was taken over by his son, Csaba Babicz, as president of the Organization from August 2011.
The current, active leadership consists of breeders and young working dog enthusiasts who together work to involve the younger generation in dog activities starting from childhood, to familiarize children with responsible animal love and animal keeping. One of the best sources of this is the dog school operating at the organization's training ground on Kapor Street in Nyíregyháza, where dog-loving families, adults, and children meet, spend their time usefully, and learn together with their dogs with the help of qualified instructors. The dog school's motto is: “Caritate et patientia,” meaning with love and patience.
The over a decade-old dog school currently successfully operates discipline, guard-protection, and agility departments. Additionally, they prepare for exams, competitions, and exhibitions, and they also try to provide meaningful help to the city's problematic dogs. The dog school gladly participates in various events with discipline and guard-protection demonstrations, which are very popular among the audience.
They also organize joint family events. The most recent, and largest by attendance, was the 2016 II. Nyíregyháza-Tokaj dog hiking tour following the “Mária route,” covering approximately 30 kilometers with more than 40 participants and 30 dogs.
In 2016, simultaneously with the CAC dog show, the I. Nyírség Cup open agility competition was also held, which brought not only professional but also great public success thanks to thousands of visitors. Similar to last year, the Association will organize the official open agility competition in 2017; more information below.
The organizers welcome exhibitors and visitors to the show from 7:00 AM, the opening of the exhibition starts at 9:30 AM, and judging begins around 10:00 AM in the rings.

The city of Dog Shows is Nyíregyháza, which is the seat of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county and the 7th largest city in Hungary, as well as the economic and cultural center of the Nyírség region. The city, continuously developing since the 1990s, stands out from the cities of the eastern regions of the country in terms of tourism. Among its downtown sights, the most significant are the City Hall, the Korona Hotel, the County Hall, the Móricz Zsigmond Theater, the Jósa András Museum, the Roman Catholic, Greek Catholic, Reformed and Evangelical churches, as well as the János Tuzson Botanical Garden, which is located on the campus of Nyíregyháza College.
The surroundings of the city also attract nature lovers. The Sóstói Park Forest, the City Park, and the area around Lake Bujtos are visited annually by countless hikers driven by their love of nature.
The Sóstó Thermal Bath promises pleasant relaxation for guests visiting in every season, being a popular rest spot for those wishing to holiday and heal.
The Nyíregyháza Zoo (Sóstó ZOO), the largest animal park in the country, is located in the Sóstó recreational area, where we can observe 500 species and 5000 individuals in an environment similar to their natural habitat. The Nyíregyháza Zoo is located 5 km from the city in the Sóstó recreational area, where a beach bath, a village museum, and a park forest provide relaxation for visitors. The Zoo is situated in this natural, almost undisturbed environment deep in an oak forest, fitting into its surroundings while leaving the natural treasures found here untouched. In the Zoo, animals can be admired arranged by continents. The layout’s purpose was for visitors to travel around the Earth and thus get to know the fauna of each continent.
The Zoo considers habitat preservation important, therefore it cooperates with local nature conservation organizations in rescuing and treating injured individuals of protected and strictly protected species.
The Zoo can show and teach something new for every age group. With their spectacular educational and cultural programs, they pay special attention to encouraging and teaching children to love animals.
The CAC dog show is traditionally hosted by the Museum Village located in Nyíregyháza Sóstófürdő. At this time, we can even encounter hundreds of “dog people” in the courtyards of the old houses, on the porches, and on the paths leading to the homesteads.
The open-air Museum Village, opened in 1979, with the characteristic architecture and traditions of the regions of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, promises a real attraction for visiting guests, where we can admire the most beautiful pieces of folk architecture. In the Museum Village, we can gain insight into old times through a school, a general store, and a pub. The Museum Village also serves as the county’s ethnographic museum, as it houses the entire ethnographic collection of the Jósa András Museum.
In the Museum Village, we can encounter many different and varied programs almost throughout the year, and in addition, permanent exhibitions also await visiting guests. In 1996, the Museum Village was awarded “Museum of the Year” and in 2006, the title of “Family-Friendly Museum.”
All interested parties, guests, and exhibitors are warmly welcomed with their dogs by the MEOE Nyíregyháza Independent Legal Entity Organization at the end of May with a special and colorful Jubilee CAC dog show!
