Organized by the Marosmenti Dog Owners' Association on September 08, 2018, we can participate in a CAC dog show for all breeds. The C.A.C show venue: Makó, Báló-liget (Maros bank).
The organizing Association, the Marosmenti Dog Owners' Association
The former MEOE Makó Organization was a continuously developing organization in the past, counting more than 200 members in 2003. Unfortunately, in the following years the number of members rapidly began to decline, until finally in 2012 it reached a low point with 24 members. According to the president of the Association, the difficult economic situation in recent years has left its mark on dog keeping; many have stopped breeding or have grown old from this beautiful and often difficult but joyful sport.
The leadership of the Association has set the goal of increasing the number of members for the future by involving the younger generation. The Organization's dog school awaits dog-loving children and young people with special sessions, where skilled instructors work with them and try to teach them the language of dogs.
The Association holds a regular club night on Wednesdays at a fixed location, where dog-loving people, families, and members are welcomed for a casual group conversation.
As of January 01, 2013, the Organization became independent and has since continued under the name Marosmenti Dog Owners' Association.
In 2009 the Association organized a CAC dog show in Makó at Zuglóger. Following the successful show, it was granted the right to organize dog shows in 2012, 2014, and 2016 as well. And so for this year too. We wish the Association good luck, favorable weather, numerous exhibitors, and much success for organizing the CAC dog show!

Introducing the city of the dog show, Makó
The city of the CAC dog show is Makó, a small town located on the right bank of the Maros river, with a population of 24,000. Due to its proximity to the Romanian and Serbian borders, it is a very important transport hub, serving as one of Hungary's southeastern gateways.
According to records, even the conquering Hungarians found a settlement at the favorable Maros crossing in Makó, called Velnök (Vönek), which means ferryman in Old Slavic. The settlement was called Makófalva after the owner Makó bán from the second half of the 13th century. Only during the Turkish rule did its name get shortened to Makó, which is a pagan origin given name (meaning glorious in Turkic language). The village slowly developed into a market town and became a sultanic estate under Turkish rule. During the years of subjugation, it was destroyed to the ground several times. In 1686, it was ravaged by Tatar troops and rebuilt by 1699. The peaceful decades of the 18th century meant slow growth. By the 1800s, the town was registered as the 12th largest city in historic Hungary. From the beginning of the 19th century, the population also grew rapidly. Agriculture was the source of livelihood from the start. After the compromise and the arrival of the railway, local agricultural products reached European markets. Alongside grains, onions, and vegetables, Makó's horse breeding also became world-famous.
After World War I, due to the Treaty of Trianon, the town ended up on the border. Despite difficult economic conditions, a significant cultural life flourished in the town, as József Attila, Gyula Juhász, and Ferenc Móra lived and created here. From the mid-1900s, Makó's development stagnated. The regime change pulled the town out of this situation, and from the 1990s onward, it began rapid development.
Makó is diverse in terms of sights. Among the natural values, the Maros floodplain, medicinal mud, and thermal water are the most significant, which guests can enjoy at the local bath. The city became world-famous thanks to the Makó onion, which is now a trademarked Hungarian product and a hungaricum.
Makó was the city of onion growers and traders. The Makó red onion variety was developed as a result of the high school of folk breeding. The Makó red onion is characterized by a distinctive rich taste and high spicing value that sets it apart from all other red onions, making its uses very versatile. The Makó garlic is also of excellent quality, with the oldest document preserved in the Makó archive dating back to 1755.
From a gastronomic perspective, the Makó red onion is internationally recognized and sought-after, and related products (onion brandy, onion bread) also increase the city's recognition. Also connected to gastronomy are numerous events that attract crowds of visitors to the city, such as the Grill Festival, the Onion Carnival and Onion Ball, the Makó International Onion Festival. The city's colorful series of events is enriched by the Guitar Festival, the Göngyfűzér Gala, the Makó Music Festival, the Makó Expo, and the Operetta Festival.
Among the city's architectural values, outstanding are the buildings conceived and executed by Imre Makovecz, representing modern architecture and defining the appearance of today's Makó.
Makó's ancient sacred site is Calvary Hill, where during the Turkish occupation, the Franciscan friars from Szeged came for the spiritual care of Catholic believers. Here stands the city's oldest building, the Calvary Chapel built in Baroque style in 1734, a listed monument whose ethnographic sacred treasures include the dressed Mary statue and the two wooden soldiers of the Holy Sepulchre.
After the regime change, the city of Makó launched the Flowering Makó movement, aiming to encourage the population to beautify their environment. As a result, the city won the titles of "Hungary's Most Flowering City" and "European Silver Medal City" in 2004.
The city offers a unique opportunity for nature lovers to discover the sight and sounds of the forest, to smell its scents, to experience the world of tree crowns up close, to listen to the songs of birds living in the trees, and to admire them. The canopy walkway nature trail, through its construction and operation, provides this opportunity for all nature enthusiasts and those less familiar with nature, as well as families, giving them insight into the magical world of the forest, the trees, and the creatures and birds hidden among the branches of the canopy.
Come and visit, the organizers warmly welcome you!
