The MEOE Nyíregyháza Independent Legal Entity Organization is organizing a CAC dog show on June 17, 2018, in Nyíregyháza. The CAC dog show will be held at the usual location, on the grounds of the Sóstói Open-Air Museum Village, which preserves old traditions.
The Association organizing the exhibition, the MEOE Nyíregyháza Independent Legal Entity Organization
In 1957, a few enthusiastic dog lovers joined forces and formed an association to promote dog keeping, breeding, and training, whether for hobby, exhibition, or sporting purposes, while also keeping in mind the promotion of Hungarian breeds.
The current active leadership consists of breeders and young working dog handlers who work together to involve the younger generation in dog activities from childhood, to introduce children to responsible animal love and animal keeping. One of the best sources for this is the dog school operating at the training ground on Kapor Street in Nyíregyháza, where dog-loving families, adults, and children meet, can spend their time usefully, and learn together with their dogs with the help of qualified instructors. The dog school’s motto is: “Caritate et patientia,” meaning with love and patience.
The dog school, which has been operating for more than a decade, currently runs obedience, protection, and agility sections successfully. In addition, they prepare dogs and handlers for exams, competitions, and exhibitions, and they also try to provide meaningful help to problematic dogs in the city. The dog school gladly participates in various events with obedience and protection demonstrations, which are very popular among spectators.
They also organize joint family events. The latest and largest such event by attendance was the 2016 II. Nyíregyháza-Tokaj dog hiking tour following the “Mária road” route, covering roughly 30 kilometers with more than 40 people and 30 dogs participating.
Events coordinated by the Organization
The Nyíregyháza Independent Legal Entity Organization has been continuously organizing dog shows for more than 20 years. With the help of the active leadership and the support of the membership, they have been able to hold a national (CAC) dog show almost every year following a successful international (CACIB) dog show, thanks to the recognition of their work by the MEOESZ.
Last year, the Association celebrated its 60th anniversary, which they made even more memorable with a Jubilee CAC show.
The dog show attracts large crowds year after year to the Sóstói Open-Air Museum Village, both visitors and exhibitors. The special location, friendly atmosphere, and pleasant weather all contribute to exhibitors enjoying “dogging together” and meeting other dog-loving exhibitors. The special atmosphere of the CAC dog shows organized by the Nyíregyháza Organization captures the exhibitors participating in the show as well as the visiting guests alike.
A particular highlight of the exhibition is the presentation of the József Babicz Memorial Award. József Babicz was the president of the Nyíregyháza Organization for many years; in addition, he worked with the German Shepherd breed for more than twenty years, bred and trained them, and held a German Shepherd breed specialist judge qualification, judging the breed successfully at foreign shows as well. He suddenly passed away in 2008. Since August 2011, his son Csaba Babicz has taken over the presidency of the Organization.
In 2016 and 2017, at the same time as the CAC dog show, the I. and II. Nyírség Cup open agility competition was also held, which brought not only professional but also huge audience success due to the several thousand visitors to the event.

Video recordings from the past years’ Nyíregyháza CAC exhibitions
Report on the 2012 Nyíregyháza CAC dog show:
The video recording by Ebugatta Television of the 2010 Hungarian Breed CAC dog show held in Nyíregyháza is available for viewing:
Introducing the city of the CAC dog show, Nyíregyháza
The city hosting the dog show is Nyíregyháza, which is the seat of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County and the 7th largest city in Hungary, also serving as the economic and cultural center of the Nyírség region. Continuously developing since the 1990s, the city stands out among the cities of the eastern regions of the country from a tourism perspective as well. Among its downtown attractions, the most significant are the Town Hall, the Korona Hotel, the County Hall, the Zsigmond Móricz Theater, the András Jósa Museum, the Roman Catholic, Greek Catholic, Reformed and Evangelical churches, as well as the János Tuzson Botanical Garden located on the premises of Nyíregyháza College.
The surroundings of the city also attract nature lovers. The Sóstói Park Forest, the City Park, and the surroundings of Bujtosi Lake are visited annually by numerous hikers guided by their love of nature.
The Sóstói Spa offers pleasant relaxation to visitors in every season, being a favorite resting place for those wishing to relax and heal.
The Nyíregyháza Zoo (Sóstó ZOO), the largest zoo in the country, is located in the Sóstó recreational area, where we can see 5000 individuals of 500 species in environments similar to their natural habitats. The Nyíregyháza Zoo is located 5 km from the city in the Sóstó recreational area, where a beach bath, village museum, and a park forest provide relaxation for visitors. The Zoo is situated in this natural, almost undisturbed environment deep within an oak forest, blending into its surroundings while leaving the natural treasures found here untouched. In the Zoo, we can admire the animals arranged by continent. The layout was designed so that visitors can travel around the Earth and thus get to know the fauna of each continent.
The Zoo considers the preservation of habitats important, so it works together with local nature conservation organizations in rescuing and treating injured individuals of protected and highly protected species.
The Zoo is able to show and teach something new to all age groups. With their spectacular educational and cultural programs, they pay special attention to encouraging and educating children to love animals.
The CAC dog show is traditionally hosted by the Museum Village located in Nyíregyháza Sóstófürdő. At these times, we can meet hundreds of “dog lovers” in the courtyards of old houses, on porches, and on paths leading to the farmsteads.
The open-air Museum Village, opened in 1979, offers a real attraction to visitors with the characteristic architecture and traditions of the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county regions, showcasing the most beautiful pieces of folk architecture here. In the Museum Village, we can get a glimpse of old times through a school, grocery store, and tavern. The Museum Village is also the county’s ethnographic museum because it houses the entire ethnographic collection of the Jósa András Museum.
In the Museum Village, we can encounter many different and varied programs almost all year round, and they also welcome visitors with permanent exhibitions. In 1996, the Museum Village won the title “Museum of the Year,” and in 2006, the “Family-Friendly Museum” award.
Come and visit too, the organizers warmly welcome you!
