The Hungarian Dog Breeders Association of Pécs is 70 years old this year, which will be crowned and made even more memorable with a Jubilee CAC dog show. The venue for the CAC dog show is the Exhibition Center of Szentlőrinc, a town located 20 km from Pécs.
The MEOE Pécs Association was founded in 1947, operating as a MEOE member association until 2012, and from the following year onward it continued as an Independent Legal Association. In the two decades following its establishment, organizing dog-related activities occupied the Leadership, and the following decades brought professional and financial prosperity for them. The flourishing of dog life also brought about an active club life, which still functions prominently to this day.
The Association also runs a well-functioning dog school, welcoming dog owners with obedience, discipline, and guard-protection sessions. The sessions take place under the supervision of certified master trainers, where a key aspect is the good relationship and harmony between owner and dog. The leadership of the MEOE Pécs Independent Legal Organization and the master dog trainers warmly welcome dogs and their owners eager to learn to the various courses of the dog school.
The Pécs Association has a great tradition in organizing exhibitions, as it has been organizing dog shows since the 1970s, including international exhibitions for 17 years, which are held every 2 years alternating annually with the national dog shows.

The city of the CAC dog exhibition is Szentlőrinc, which is located 20 km from Pécs at the confluence of the Bükkösd Valley, separating the Mecsek Mountains from the Zselic.
The settlement of Árpád-era origin got its name from the order house of the Knights Templar founded beside the Okor river. After the dissolution of the Templar Order in 1312, it came under the control of the Johannites. During the military campaigns and troop movements following the Battle of Mohács, it was set on fire several times. In 1550 and 1579, it was the town of Saint Lawrence, the center of the Szentlőrinc district in the Pécs-centered Turkish administration. From the first decade of the 18th century, Szentlőrinc became an estate center. By the middle of the century, it became one of the seats of the estate complex of Prince Miklós Esterházy. Szentlőrinc was granted district seat status from 1773. During this period, the administrative, jurisdictional, health, commercial, and public education institutions of the large village were developed.
The favorable geographical location, transport conditions, and the expansion of economic-administrative roles caused the continuous growth of the settlement’s population. Since the construction of railway lines, commerce has been significant in the settlement. Passenger and freight traffic elevated Szentlőrinc to a commercial hub. The war years caused a break in the development of the settlement, but by the early 20th century, despite this, the population exceeded 2,000 and then rose above 3,000 by the end of the decade following World War II. The population of the large village doubled in two decades and is approaching seven thousand.
From January 2004, Szentlőrinc advanced to become a subregional center and gradually took on the administrative, authority, health, educational, and cultural duties of the twenty settlements belonging to its district.
Among the sights of Szentlőrinc, the Esterházy Palace built in 1718 must be mentioned, which is currently under monument protection but was neglected for a long time. It was renovated in 2006 and has since operated as the town hall.
The settlement’s first school was built in 1795, expanded and rebuilt several times. It took its current form in 1907 and also enjoys monument protection. It was renovated again a few years ago and has since operated as the community center.
The Catholic Church, built in Baroque style in 1718, features a remarkable holy water font converted from a Turkish basin. Its organ is the work of József Angster of Pécs.
The town’s Reformed Church was completed in a rather rare architectural style in the country (Transylvanian fortress church). Construction started in 1935 and it was consecrated in 1937.
Among the city’s cultural offerings, the Lőrinc Day series of events starting every year on August 10 stands out, the Lőrinc Day fair, and the Farmer’s Days, which have been held since 1994. Farmer’s Days are today Baranya County’s most significant agricultural exhibition and fair, involving agricultural producers, processors, and marketers from the county and the country, as well as an increasing number of foreign exhibitors and visitors. This event series offers a pleasant weekend program not only for professionals but also for visiting families.
The National Interclub and International Ballroom Dance Team Competition is traditionally repeated annually, also a highly enjoyable program for both locals and visitors.
The venue of the Jubilee CAC Dog Show is the Exhibition and Event Center of the Baranya County Entrepreneurial Center, with a floor area of 81,000 m2. The Center has covered exhibition halls and grassy open areas. Parking lots are directly connected to the area, and full internet access (WIFI coverage provided) is available.
Every visitor, guest, and exhibitor with their dogs is warmly welcomed along with a colorful Jubilee dog exhibition by the MEOE Pécs Association on April 09 in Szentlőrinc at the Baranya County Entrepreneurial Center Exhibition and Event Center.
