Introducing the dog show town, Herend
The dog show town is Herend, which lies 14 km from Veszprém, at the meeting point of the Northern and Southern Bakony Mountains, on the banks of the Séd stream, in a basin surrounded by hills.
According to the first records, the area was already inhabited in the early 1300s as smaller settlements, but its population growth dates to the 1700s, as historical finds from the area confirm. At that time, its inhabitants lived by agriculture, viticulture, and logging.
In the 1820s, a ceramics factory was established in Herend organized by Vince Stingl, whose rise occurred in the 20th century. From the mid-1900s, during the post-war period, production significantly increased in the porcelain factory, and thus the settlement began significant development thanks to its world-famous hand-painted porcelain, and by the end of this century, Herend porcelain became known almost worldwide.
The settlement also known as the "porcelain city" has grown to become Europe's largest porcelain manufactory. The fabulous hand-painted Herend porcelain is a Hungarikum, part of the Hungarian heritage. The Herend Porcelain Art Museum welcomes more than 100,000 visitors annually.
In the Porcelanium belonging to the collection, visitors can look behind the scenes and get acquainted with the workshop secrets of porcelain making. The fabulous porcelains were originally commissioned for noble mansions, castles, and manor houses. Each year, within the framework of a traveling exhibition, visitors can enjoy the beauty of porcelain in its original environment in the renovated Hungarian noble mansions.
In the surroundings of the town, you can rest and hike: by climbing Hajag, you can get to know the local fauna and flora, breathe in the fresh air, and explore the traces of recent events.
Come and visit yourself! The organizers are waiting for you with love!
The national dog show in Herend is held in the wooded-park promenade area, where the Veszprém County Dog Breeders Association warmly welcomes all visitors, guests, and exhibitors with their dogs to a high-quality CAC dog show!
Please share this post so that it can reach as many dog exhibitors and enthusiasts as possible! Thank you! 🙂
