The Association of Dog Breeders of Eastern Hungary on April 15, 2017 and 16 announces a 2 x CACIB dog show in Debrecen. On both days, we can participate in one international CACIB dog show each on the grounds of the University of Debrecen Agrarian Science Center.
The Association of Dog Breeders of Eastern Hungary was established in the 1960s, then known as the MEOE Debrecen Organization. Specifically, in 1967 the hunting, herding, guard-protective, and work departments were created, and subsequently training for these as well as guide dogs started within the Association. In 1990 the Association became legally independent, and nowadays it is considered the largest Association by membership. Besides organizing the two major shows (2 x CACIB and the night CACIB), the Association also holds two or three work tests and breeding tests annually, and continuous training takes place in the guard-protective, hunting, and agility departments.
International CACIB dog shows organized by the Association of Dog Breeders of Eastern Hungary have a great tradition. Since the 2000s, the Association has held this large-scale, two-day dog show almost every year, enchanting exhibitors with its pleasant atmosphere (together with the night CACIB dog show, which is even more magical under the mysterious lighting).
As an appetiser, our readers can watch a video recorded by Ebugatta TV at one of the international dog shows of recent years:

The venue of the 2 x CACIB international dog show is Debrecen, which is Hungary's second largest and most populous city, as well as the cultural, economic, tourism and transportation center of Eastern Hungary. Today it is considered one of the most dynamically developing cities in our country.
The city of Debrecen is often referred to as the Calvinist Rome or civitas city, which gained market town status in the 1300s, then royal city rank in the 1600s, and has twice served as the country’s capital. Its history has been intertwined with the Reformation for centuries, as evidenced by many historical monuments such as Kossuth Square, the Memorial Park, and the Great Forest Sculpture Park.
Among its sights stands out the city's symbol, the 19th-century classicist-style Great Reformed Church, which is the largest Reformed Church in the country and where Kossuth Lajos’s armchair is preserved as a relic. The building is located in the heart of the city, at Kossuth Square, behind which is the Reformed College operating since the 1500s, whose reputation was established by its famous teachers and students. The College’s large library, with a collection of half a million volumes – including rare books – is registered as the largest collection of the Reformed Church in Hungary.
Next to the College is the building of the Déri Museum built in neo-baroque style. Its most famous part, the Munkácsy Hall, displays two works of Mihály Munkácsy’s world-renowned Christ trilogy.
Another landmark in the city center is the prestigious Aranybika Hotel, which is the oldest still operating hotel in the country, the Main Square, where in the middle the city’s coat of arms made of glass mosaic can be found in decorative pavement, as well as the classicist-style building of the Town Hall, which is among the most beautiful.
Among the city's abundant cultural offerings, the colorful and wonderful Flower Carnival on August 20, the Jazz Days, the Poetry Festival, and the Summer University events stand out.
The city’s most popular tourist event is the Flower Carnival, unique in Europe. Hundreds of thousands come to the city for the spectacle related to the coronation of the state founder Saint Stephen and the celebration of the new bread. The main event of the week-long series, the Flower Carnival, becomes more spectacular every year; participants can see fairytale-like floral compositions whose majestic fragrance is not negligible either. In addition, high-quality entertaining programs, concerts, dance performances, children’s programs, and as the highlight of the day, fireworks await families and guests attending the Flower Carnival.
The Zoo, which has welcomed visitors since 1958, can provide real relaxation for families. Over the nearly 60 years that have passed, the Zoo’s area has continuously expanded, and today it can be said that a park meeting EU standards has been created, where visiting families and guests can see about 1500 specimens representing 165 species from 5 continents.
The conditions for the species living here ensure significantly greater well-being and better comfort than before. Since 1994, the area along with its 341 plant species found here has been under nature conservation protection.
Among Debrecen’s natural sights, the Great Forest stands out, which since 1939 has been Hungary’s first nature conservation area, expanded with a zoo, amusement park, and botanical garden whose original flora is identical to that of the Great Forest. The arboretum, with about 8,000 plant species, offers plenty of tropical rarities, and the European famous cactus collection representing 2,000 species and 10,000 plants is also located here.
The actual venue of the dog shows, the area of the University of Debrecen's Agricultural Science Center, is also located in Nagyerdő, where every visitor, guest, exhibitor with their dogs is warmly welcomed along with two colorful and atmospheric dog shows by the Association of Eastern Hungarian Dog Breeders.
