The MEOE Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County Association will organize the II. Tiszavirág Winner CAC dog show on May 13, 2018, the venue being the Millér Leisure Park.
The organizing Association, MEOE Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County Association
The MEOE Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County Association was re-established in 2015 with a new, young leadership. The Association was founded by the founding members to organize FCI-compatible dog shows within the county, to promote cultured dog keeping, and to provide assistance to those in need for establishing a harmonious dog-human relationship. Their goal is long-term thinking and continuous development.
The first milestone in realizing their goals was organizing and conducting a CAC dog show in 2016. The success of the show is proven by the fact that the Association has been granted permission again this year by the MEOE Federation to organize another CAC show! We wish them good luck and much success in organizing the exhibition!

Introducing the dog show city, Szolnok
The city of the CAC dog show is Szolnok, the county seat of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County, an important cultural, economic and healthcare center. The city lies in the heart of the Great Plain, on the rising corner where the Tisza and Zagyva rivers meet, at one of the most important crossing points of the river. Its long development was mainly influenced by this location. Among its natural features, the fact that the city and its region are rich in living waters is decisive.
The county seat celebrated its 940th anniversary of foundation in 2015. It is likely that the waters and the high ground kept peoples of different cultures here for millennia. In the era of the Árpád dynasty kings, it was primarily known as a salt transport center and an important crossing point. Information from that period is incomplete, but it is certain that the city’s population was destroyed during the Mongol invasion. During the wars against the Turks, its strategic importance drew the country's attention. The strongest castle of the Great Plain was built here in the 16th century, which was captured by the Turks due to the weakness of the foreign fortress defenders. Today, not even ruins remain of the castle. Following the expulsion of the Turks, it did not take a century before the city suffered severe military or natural disasters.
The city began to truly develop after the Compromise: its industry, cultural life and education distinguished it even among cities with similar populations. A revolutionary breakthrough in transportation was brought by the Tisza steam navigation launched in 1835, then by the opening of the country’s second railway line in 1847. Through the railway, the city’s transportation industry was built and continuously developed. Further momentum was given to its growth by becoming the seat of the newly organized Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County in 1876.
The city's growth stalled between the two world wars. During the Second World War, Szolnok was bombed twelve times; the railway station and its surroundings were particularly affected, but other parts of the city also suffered severe damage. Significant industrial investments took place in the 1950s and 1960s. Huge construction began, housing estates formed, and the population grew with newcomers from the surrounding area. Nowadays, Szolnok has become an increasingly beautiful, clean, and family-friendly city that continues to develop.
Throughout its history, the city was destroyed 14 times, so few monuments have survived to the present day. The Damjanich Memorial, the Castle Church, the Tájház Museum, the Town Hall, and the Synagogue building are among these. The hotel located on the picturesque Tisza riverside, with its healing waters, has been a favored excursion site for tourists visiting the city for decades. The three churches that defined the city's former skyline still stand as attractions on the Tisza riverside. The city's most significant monument is the Baroque-style Franciscan Church built in the mid-18th century.
On the banks of the Tisza, in the center of what was once a park of about ten acres, the Tisza Hotel and Spa was built in 1928. The thermal water found here is excellently suited for the treatment of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases, as well as for the relief of stomach ailments. The hotel and spa built in 1928 have created a true Hungarian gastronomic tradition over the past decades and continue to maintain it today. Since it is located next to the Szigligeti Theater, it has taken on a special role, as it was the venue for banquets and a resting and meeting place frequently visited by poets and other artists.
The cultural life of Szolnok is multifaceted. The spring Szolnok Music Festival, the Autumn Szolnok Arts Weeks, among them the Tisza-side Summer Festival, attract many visitors to the city. Another major event is the Tiszavirág Festival, first held in 2006 to invigorate the cultural life of Szolnok. At the event, a park showcasing traditional crafts, wine houses, and a winemakers’ exhibition also await those interested.
Szolnok’s wonderful natural environment is the Tiszaliget, which is a huge, park-like green area with walking paths, boating opportunities, sports fields, and a beach.
